I was asked to make a post about some stories within the Casino grounds so I thought I'd share. I have many so I'll do my best to pick the better ones.
Some back information: I've been a Casino Dealer for 11 years, I've been a supervisor for five years, and I've been a Surveillance Operator for one year. I've worked at three properties, none of which are connected or owned by the same company. I've worked on : Government/Private/Native American owned casinos.

From Hero to Zero.

At my first Casino, I was one of the first group of people who were trained to deal Roulette . After 4 weeks of working 6PM-3AM then doing roulette training from 3AM-8AM (Not paid) , I actually really enjoyed the game and after about six months I became extremely quick at the number game and the pace of the action was steady with very low margin of errors. Young man walks in, cashes in for $500. He buys in for $2 chips and just loads the board. After a few spins and pretty decent hits, he then changes his chips from $2 to 5$ then to $10 and racks his winnings up to $10,000. It was then, five spins in a row, he loaded the board with some pretty gross bets, and every spin I would hit the ONE number with either NO CHIPS on it, or maybe 1 chip , He lost all $10,000 in a matter of minutes. He leaves , and I go on break. After my break I was going back to the same table and wouldn't you know it, the same young man walks in and cashes in another $500. He tells me he just sold his car outside and this is all that he had left. So we do the same deal, buys in for $2 chips, then slowly starts betting $5 chips, $10, $25...and he makes $10,000 AGAIN. Within the next 25 minutes it was straight agony. Every spin, same thing, he would bet $2500 in chips, and win only $250, $400, and after about a half hour he lost it all . Never saw the guy again.
2) Man down
At this property, we are 24 hours for table games. It's currently 5AM , and I'm dealing some $25 Blackjack to this guy. He's probably early thirties , heavy guy. He's sober as can be, but right away I can tell he's been losing. We know how much you've bought in for, how much your down, or up, and I could see he was down $2000+. After about twenty minutes of pure losing, his temper starts to flare.At this point I now have two other guests at my table. Drinking coffee, not saying a word, just losing their money. After losing hand, after hand, this guy looks me straight in the eye, seized up, starts shaking, he can't move. He tries to punch towards me and smashes his stack of chips all over the place and falls backwards to the floor. I call for security, we cannot touch him due to liability . I can't move from my table because, well, liability / casino cash property, all I can do is try to talk to him. As I'm doing so, these other two woman who are sitting at my table just look at me and one says "OK, dealer, cmon lets go " as she taps the table telling me to start dealing and forget about the guy having a stroke on the floor. As security takes him to the ambulance out front, I had to stay behind for a couple minutes and give a statement. I go on break. I come back, and 45 minutes later, he comes right back in with a oxygen tank and keeps gambling for the remainder of the morning.
3) You get a dildo, and YOU get a dildo!
On a late summer Saturday night, we had a large event for these massive muscle guys/strongman competition type thing. After their show, I'm at the roulette table , and five of these boys come over to play. They were absolutely hilarious. They were feeling pretty good, cashed in somewhat large amounts and I could tell this was going to be a fun time. After about a hour of dealing to these guys, it's almost midnight, everybody is pretty hammered , I spin the ball, and all five of these guys take out these god damn (what I can only tell was) two feet purple dildos from inside their pants, and wiping them around in the air. The ladies were just loving it, one of the dildos landed in the roulette wheel and we had to shut the table down to re-calibrate the wheel to make sure nothing had been changed. I just remember that night was so much damn fun, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and I would never forget it.
4) Full Moon
On this day, I was actually training dealers / supervising them on small games like Three Card poker. We opened the table at 10AM, and this older man came and sat down . He played all day. The jackpot was $21,000 and that was pretty high for this table. He played, and played and played. He's one of the players where you know he's wearing a diaper because he's been drinking coffee/pop all day and hasn't moved in eight hours. As the day went on, this man never moved from his chair. Getting closer to midnight, he was aggravated and said "I need to go have a smoke, I'm getting killed in here". He left, and the very next hand, the lady beside him was dealt the jackpot . He didn't say much, but you could just tell he just hated life at that very moment because had he not gotten up, it would of been his hand. The man calmly took his cane , his hat, jacket, coffee, and left. The next morning I found out when he did leave he drove his car straight through his bank and was arrested.
5) Slick Robber
I actually give props to people who can actually pull this off. This story may confuse you so I'll try and explain things as best as possible. A lot of casinos have machines as soon as you walk through the front doors. A man walks up to one of these machines and sticks in HIS $100 bill. He doesn't gamble it, instead he hits the cash out button and gets a $100 TITO ticket where he then takes the ticket to the ATM machine to get his $100. Now remember, his Original $100 is in the slot machine. He then takes the $100 from the ATM and goes back to the same machine, and repeats this process over a hundred times. Essentially he's taking money from the ATM, and loading up the Slot Machine . Now he knows he can't do it too much because if the slot machine gets full of money, the machine will shut down and the slow attendant will have to take all the cash out. So he deposits over $10,000 , then has a small crowbar, he cracks the machine open and makes a run out the front door. To my knowledge he was never caught . But damn, that was pretty smart .

6) Mental Health is a thing.
10PM man walks in to play some high limit BlackJack. This guy knows the game and played well. Dressed nice, drank juice/tea , a little bit of a attitude, cashed in over $10,000. When this man was half way down his buy in, he said something a long the lines of "If I don't win here tonight, I'm going to go set myself on fire." I wasn't sure if he was serious because when people are down, they tend to say a lot of nonsense. I actually left early that night, and from a third party was told he did exactly that in the parking lot. The next day it was clear something terrible had gone wrong in the parking lot .

7) Nothing good happens after midnight
After a busy Saturday night, I was dealing a mix of games, and during this story I was in the middle of Blackjack. I had one young kid (probably 19) sitting in the middle, one older male probably in his later 40's sitting beside him on his right, and I had a really nice couple in their 20's sitting together at the other side. This young kid wasn't playing just sort of watching, and ever time the old man won he would give this young guy some of his winnings. The older man, was a wine drinker, and he had black between all of his teeth, I'll never forget. He's a little drunk but nothing terrible. As the night goes on, the older man goes and uses the washroom, at which point the couple asked the young guy "Oh was that your dad?" and the young guy says "Hah, no I wish!". The couple and I just looked at each other. This old guy, was in complete control over this kid. Absolutely disgusting. The night ends, and I find out the couple called a few of their friends, and they all waited outside by this old mans truck and beat the living hell out of him. 40 years old, sleeping with a 19 year old, completely brain washed . Very weird.
8) That one co-worker where you just wish they would quit.
One of our co-workers, nice guy but had a very big ego and we as employees just sorta left him alone. One day he had enough of the atmosphere and quit. Now usually when you quit, you cannot come back until you paperwork is finalized. How ever, HR was in that day, and he was given the paperwork the very next day. He came in, cashed in $1000, and made $50,000 in about a hour at the Baccarat table. My manager, was extremely annoyed, because now this guy is just mocking the casino and having the time of his life (Thanks for the big tip by the way :) ) and so he decides to call it quits. He wants to ban himself and he wants $50,000 in cash. The casino says Nope, we are going to give you a cheque. Now here's the thing, most business people will take the cheque, how ever you CANT CASH the cheque until the following monday because it's on that day where the funds are available. The casino on the other hand will cash their own check in anytime , because they want you to play. So this guy pretty much said go to hell I want my cash, and he called the police. Police show up, and management promptly gave him the cash.I though it was absolutely hilarious .

9) No good deed goes un punished
I was dealing Three Card Poker, and the jackpot was around $17,000. This old man (a regular) was sitting there all day grinding it out. Super nice guy, always a pleasure to deal to. Well, after hours of playing, he stands up and says "Hey john!, can you come here for a minute?" so his buddy John comes over. He says to John "I need to go take a piss real quick, can you play my card until I get back?" John agrees . John takes the chips and I stop him and explain he can't play his friends chips, he needs to cash in and play his own. And he does. Welp, second hand out and bam, doesn't he win it. The old man comes back and is so happy, he can't believe it. John, took his $17,000, didn't say a word to his "buddy" and walked away. I never felt so much hatred in all my life. Didn't give him a dollar, not a thank you, nothing. The old man sits back down again, the progressive resets to $2500, and he sat there grinding away again.
10) The Top Knot
I had this player , young guy, who was born into a fortune. One of his relatives passed away and left him a pretty big sizable amount of money, so he played poker every single day for the rest of his days. I will add, he IS a good player. I did not enjoy his company just because of the "Know-it-All" attitude, but he was good. We'll call him John. John is 5'10, and well build, with muscle. John also decided today was the day to show off his Top Knot. (google top knot if you're not sure what I mean) So he sits down, and he's absolutely KILLING the table. Every hand, after hand, after hand. And because he's in such a good mood, he's playing any two cards, calling any $500 bet, and he's just dominating. This one guy at the table decided he had enough. He got up, without saying a word and left. A moment later, he comes back in, walks behind John, and takes a pair of scissors , and cuts off his Top Knot. I for one couldn't believe it, dying laughing inside, and it just turned into one big brawl. That was a good day.
11) That one bad seed
One of my best friends who I haven't seen in YEARS ended up being part of the crew. Was kind of nice to catch up. We never really got along as we grew up because he has a very high picture of himself . He wanted that 10/10 woman. A mansion, and a new Corvette. So every month or so we would all go up to the other casino to play. I myself would bring no more than $500, but I couldn't understand how this guy (we'll call him Kyle) was spending THOUSANDS of dollars at the tables. So this wen on for a few months. Well, one day, as we're closing the casino, he and I are in the High Limit room and we're getting ready to close the tables. We are told to take the chips out, count them, put them back, sign this piece of paper and that's it. Well as the supervisor was locking the tray, the piece of paper fell to the floor, so she asked Kyle to grab the piece of paper. As he bends over, a great big $500 chip falls right out of his sock. Kyle was fired immediately , but it all made sense. They offered Kyle a deal where if he replaced all the stolen chips they would not make it public. Not sure how that turned out.
12) If I ever decide to write a book, this will be the last chapter: <3
After working at my first Casino for five years, I met a Indian woman who was visiting from another part of the country. During this time I was explaining a game to her, which honestly I don't think she even cared. She explained she was visiting and sight seeing , and that was that.Well, two years later I ended up moving to the other side of the country and transferred casinos, and low and behold she worked there as a Dealer. We got married , and it's been 5 years.
13) The Tip
One of our tables that we've had for a couple years had a progressive jackpot that had reached $100,000. The dealer at the table was sitting pretty lonely. Nobody really played the game because people knew it was extremely difficult to win the jackpot. My memory is a tad foggy, but you somehow needed to flop the royal flush. This young guy sits down and says to the dealer, we'll call him John. "John, if you pay me that jackpot, I will tip you $10,000" Well John started dealing, and about a half hour into his shift, he F*cking did it. He dealt him the royal. And you know something?This young lad, kept his word, and he made sure there was a audience, and he tipped exactly $10,000. That was a moment right there. That pay cheque was real nice. I think we all got about $500 more than usual. The moment that jackpot was awarded they got rid of the table because the money it was making was not near what the casino wanted. I'm sure there have been bigger tips at other casinos, but that was something special .
14) The Lawsuit
Now this story I'm going to have to beat around the bush a bit due to the nature of what happened. I can't won't answer any questions that you may have on this topic other than what I have to say because it had a lot of publicity . The waitresses at this casino had to wear very thin sexy clothes. Not borderline legal, but it was noticed. One day they called all the waitresses to come in and explained they were changing their outfit to something even more sexier. Now these new dresses were very very borderline legal . The staff said No way. We're not wearing that.So , friday night comes, and the staff work their whole shift, then at the end of their shift were called into a meeting and were all fired. Welp, one of those ladies father was a pretty big time lawyer. Brough the casino to court and won. They won big. Good for them. We had no waitresses for a couple days haha.

I live in a two bedroom apartment, in march of this year I broke up with my girlfriend and I needed to find a roommate. The first thing I did was put the feelers out with some of my neighbors. The perfect roommate. Then Covid happened.
He was laid off from the restaurant. I received a text asking me if his girlfriend from Chicago could move in with us, he said that she was cool and they would use the free time to find a place of their own. Both turned out to be false.
Over the months of the quarantine they would fight to no end, it seemed like almost every night. Screaming matches that would go into the early hours of the morning. A few of them got to the point where other neighbors had called the police for a domestic disturbance.
At this point it would be hard to describe how much I dislike “Girl” but one of my first interactions with her describes it best.
Guy made ramen, he spent all day making a broth, even made some pot stickers, and I thought it was great. She hated it, apparently it was so bad she couldn’t get through Jumanji 2 and had to leave to get other food. It appalled her so much he was no longer allowed to cook their meals. A chef.
Also one of their fights got to the point that he was speeding off in his car and she threw one of my glasses at him, shattering it. It was a pint glass that had a e-card meme on it that said “looks like it’s fuck this shit o’clock” with a guy throwing papers in the air. In the grand scheme of things it's not that important but it was a christmas gift from my sister in 2011 and I considered it a prized possession.
The way the apartment is setup I have a bedroom with a walk-in closet and a bathroom, which allowed me to interact with them as little as possible.For the most part that ment I only needed to interact with them when necessary. Necessary being when a homeless guy was standing around our stairwell and Girl took an unloaded paintball gun to scare him off with mock gunfire. So most nights they use my TV that is in the living room, watching youtube videos on my account. This doesn’t bother me but it does let me see their entire watch history.
The only thing they watch is about gambeling. I mean I can’t judge. I'll watch hours of people doing metal work, using lathes and welding when I have no way to do it myself. But the thing they watch the most is slots, people live streaming themselves at casinos playing high roller slot machines and winning large sums of money.
About a month ago it was night and they had been gone all day. There is a knock on the door at 4 am, it's Girl. She said they were at one of the Indian gaming casinos and she doesn’t know where Guy is. He showed up late the next day, and was an absolute wreck.
Two weeks ago they let me know they were going to Vegas now that things are starting to reopen. They were gone for a week, which I can only describe as pure bliss, and came back without issue.
Saturday 6/20 I carpool with my parents up to North County San Diego to spend the weekend at my brothers, my first time seeing my family and not sleeping in my room in four months, a true vacation. My sister-in-law is pregnant so for health and safety reasons she asked if I could get a hotel room. Yes ma’am, vacation.
Sunday 6/21 at 9am I get a text from Guy.
“Theres been a large sum of money stollen from myself and Girl as of last night
I'm contacting the police to file a police report.
Can you please give me the landlords number to go through the proper channels, locks need to be changed and all the proper details need to be followed to get to the bottom of what has happened.
Girl and myself will seek additional help to recover all losses
It’s unfortunate this is happening on father’s day.
But it needs to be addressed,
Immediately.

I'm a musician and a nerd, so my first thought was about my gear in my bedroom and my computers. I asked if he could go into my room to see if anything was taken but he doesn’t respond.
My father had passed the Bar in New Orleans in the 80’s but now does commercial marine insurance. He let me take his car to go back down to see what was going on. Because Guy wasn’t responding, I called the Neighbor with the bull dog, he agreed to go in my room and confirmed that my music gear and tech were there as I described it.
I arrive, Girl is in their bedroom with the door closed, Guy is sitting at a table in our common area on the computer. looking back, this is when I realize that I might be a little naive. Because I’ve lived my life outside the long arm of the law (aside from traffic and parking tickets) It did not occur to me that they would be accusing me of stealing the money, but from his tone I could tell something was weird. In the common area they had two sets of golf clubs, he said she had her purse in her golf bag and it had $5000 cash inside and that it was stolen. I asked if they had taken the golf clubs out while it was in there and he said yes but it was always close to them so it was in eyesight the whole time.
My first thought was leave the situation and call your dad for advice.
As I have never been in a situation like this I honestly didn’t know what to do. What he told me was:
Directly ask him if I am being accused of stealing the money, and if he says yes say I didn’t do it. After that don’t say anything without legal counsel present. I did that.
Girl bursts out the door enraged and screaming. I said one thing “ I am not going to talk about this without legal counsel present” she said many, many things, here are the highlights.
“I know you did it you fucking crack head whitetrash peice of shit. I know people, we're getting your fingerprints and you are going down. Make it easy on yourself just give us back the money.

It was like that but many more times and a lot louder and meaner.
I left the apartment and went across the street to call non-emergency, I told them I didn’t feel safe, described Guy and Girl, and they showed up 4 hours later.
The officers had already talked to Guy and Girl when they talked to me. They asked me If I took the money and I said no. They said it would be a lot easier if I just gave the money back. I said I didn’t take the money. They said you know they will be pressing charges. I said yes. I asked if I was free to go and they said yes. I put all my computers, and musical instruments in the car and drove back up to my brothers. While driving my sisters, who are enraged, look up Guy and Girl and find that Girl has from what we can tell at least 4 arrests in Chicago, the one we could see was for assault and battery.
Spent the rest of fathers day with my family, we had Whiteclaw, and tacos.
I am now back at the hotel, at around 11pm, Girl sends me a text. Apparently Guy gave her my number, she didn’t have it before.
“MY MONEY BETTER BE ON THIS TABLE BY MORNING. PERIOD!!!! YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!”
From my Dad's advice I probably shouldn't have said anything, but I did.
“I really don’t understand why you guys are doing this. I know you haven't known me that long but I can’t believe you actually think I stole money from you. And more importantly, and this should be obvious:
If this goes to court it will be a monumental waste of time and money for both of us.
First off, I didn’t steal the money, so if you launch some sort of investigation nothing will be found.
From a quick internet search Girl has a multiple arrest record from Chicago.
Two weeks ago you both spent a week in Vegas where you would have clearly had time to spend the money.
Because it’s my youtube account on the TV there is a clear history of you guys watching videos that revolve around slots and gambling.
Absolutely nothing about your accusations makes any sense.
But the most important thing is, and I genuinely suggest you take this in full consideration:
Through my family I have access to legal counsel, that if this does go to court, will turn it into a complete fucking bloodbath.
Please, I beg you, save both of us the wasted time and money and just walk away.”
She responded:
“ON THE TABLE IN THE MORNING”
“You’re a white trash crackhead thief. ON THE TABLE BY MORNING 9AM SHARP”

Yeah so now it's 2 am and i'm in a hotel room in northern San Diego.
All in all, not the worst fathers day I've had but close.
While my father did practice Law in the 80’s and so far all of his advice has seemed correct. I figured it might be beneficial to ask some questions.
Is a restraining order necessary? I’m sure I can look up how to get one but do I need to?
Can I kick them out? My landlord told me we can give them a 30 notice to leave but I’m not sure if the covid thing affects that.
And honestly I would never do this because I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body but what legal action could I take towards them if any?

My story of gambling addiction in detail

I have decided part of my recovery will include writing out every little detail I can remember about the long road astray that gambling has caused my life. Today is day one and I am ready to reclaim my life from this evil that exists in the world, again. A short recap of the most recent events before I hit the details: Gambling addict for 12 years and went 1 year 4 months without gambling a dime before letting a $100 dollar deposit become a $10,000 mistake again. I am writing this for myself as a reminder and for others, as reading others stories on this subreddit was one of the tools I used to make it a year and four months without gambling.
BEFORE KNOWING I HAD A PROBLEM
I turned 18 and vividly remember my dad taking me and my mom to an indian casino for my birthday. I was so excited seeing the ads on TV and wanting to go try my luck on my parents dime but the worst thing that could happen, happened. I hit $400 on a $4 dollar bet playing slots. I had not made $400 all summer working my ass off, but was able to make it in 20 seconds at this casino. From this moment on, I was hooked. As everyone knows, the worst thing that can happen as a gambler is to win big and at 18 this was a massive amount of money to win. From 18-22 I kept my stakes low and would only bring $50-$100 to the casinos because of the lack of funds and I can recall feeling physically ill if I had lost it. I was a college student so at the time I did not have much money to spend and it truly was a leisurely activity until I went one afternoon and hit $2400 on quickhits on a $2 bet. I had found the secret to being rich, it was playing slots at the casino. I still recall being frugal and keeping my bet sizes from 25 cents to a $2 max due to no income and solely relying on my parents providing me with a little side cash going back and forth from visiting my parents to going back to college. At this point of my life gambling seemed like a fun easy way to make cash, I was all about that.
I graduated from college and found a very promising career in sales. I was making very good money and living the dream free of all worries. I really didn’t gamble all too often as the nearest casino was 3 hours away, that was until I discovered the world of online gambling. Then the addiction kicked in.
STARTING TO RECOGNIZE A GAMBLING PROBLEM
I started watching gambling streams on youtube and couldn’t believe how much money people would make on the online slots. I live in the USA so I only had a handful of options of casinos I could play at. I started making multiple $25 deposits a day to try my luck and had some ups but mostly downs. One day I hit big online and tried withdrawing my winnings. Sure enough, a check from what appeared to be China hit my mail and was in my bank account. The online US casinos were limited game wise and the more I played the more I felt like I was getting scammed but that didn’t stop me. I joined a gambling online forum and learned of ways to bypass the US restrictions and was free to play the “good” games that were available in other countries. I never knew if I did win whether or not I would receive the winnings but this had now turned into double gamble which made the excitement intensify. Sure enough, I won another 2k online betting $1. I remember thinking to myself, why would anyone work when you can make this kind of money sitting in your own living room having fun. Well, as fate would have it, that 2k online diminished as I purchased a total of 5k worth of gift cards to make deposits at the casino and lost it all plus my savings over a 3-6 month period of time. That left a nasty taste in my mouth and now I had debt for the first time. I had to escape this debt somehow and kept playing slots and running my bank account to 0 every paycheck. Depression started to kick in and eventually playing slots lead me to self-harm and suicidal tendencies.
RECOGNIZING GAMBLING ADDICTION
I still was hooked on online slots even though I was in debt but ran out of all of my money. Thats when I discovered I could sign up for a credit card and get cash advances. Over a period of 5 years I racked up a surmounting 15k worth of credit card cash advances which put myself in a position where I could barley make minimum payments on all the cards I had opened and have any spare cash at the end of the month. This fed my addiction as it was the only way I knew I could get out and sure enough, I would max out my cards and hit big again on the very last deposit available to me. I would go from 15k of debt to 2k of debt overnight and would swear that I would never play again. We all know how that went and would teeter totter back and forth from having money in the bank to maxing out my credit cards and having only rice to eat for the month. This is when I knew I had a problem but had no clue how to fix it. I brought my family into the situation, told them what I had done when I finally didn’t win and had maxed out all and they were disappointed but helped and gave me money. The money of course went to gambling and so the cycle continued.
FULL BLOWN ADDICT
I worked hard and was good at my job and was able to stop gambling for a period of time and save enough money to purchase a house. I had a new life ahead of me, a new house and a new best friend in my dog. I had real responsibilities now and cut back on gambling. I stopped playing online as much and started driving the 3 hour drive to the casino to try my luck there. This is where the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened. I won and I won big. I remember bringing $500 to the casino and turning that into $1600. What a rush, but then lost it all. Then as you all know the ATM trips started up and I 0’d out my bank account and decided to try higher denomination slots as a last resort. I put $1200 into a $25 machine and won $25,000. I could not believe my luck, it had to be fate. I went home that night knowing this was my new job, PRO SLOT PLAYER. I called in sick at work the next day because there was more money to be made and off I went to my new job 3 hours away at 3 am in the morning because I couldn’t wait to get there and start playing. I started small and made 3 trips to the ATM at $500 withdrawals. On the last trip, I hit $20,000 on a $2 machine. I made $45,000 in a matter of 48 hours, which was a years pay at my current job. I had everything figured out and I was going to be rich.
FUCK GAMBLING

My first three craps sessions anecdote - Catskills and Atlantic City

Prologue:
Hey guys, I'm simply sharing my recent experiences gambling for amusement. This is more of a blog-like post than anything. I'm 24 and I don't live in a location where I can go out to gamble easily. It takes at least 2-3 hours to reach the nearest casino. I can only do it once in awhile and with a conservative bankroll (~300 dollars). I used to love playing texas hold em. I watched youtube videos, bought a book, and studied the game. I win easily in home games but I seemed to consistently get cooled in hands where I was statistically a favorite. Casino earnings wise, I am down at least $800 in texas hold em. After being consistently disappointed at the poker tables, I recently decided to give a new casino game a try. I was looking into baccarat and craps on youtube.
The Story:
Session 1
My parents receive free comp rooms and I had an idea to use their free room to just hang out and have fun with my girlfriend for a weekend. We ended up going to Resort Worlds in Catskills, NY. The vibe I got... wow everything is in red and clearly tailored for the Chinese clientele. Every sign is translated into Chinese and half the patrons are dressed in red to feed their superstitious mindsets (not saying that's bad, I am actually Chinese myself, if anything it made me feel more comfortable). The first night, my girlfriend and I used some free money, courtesy of my parents baccarat winnings, and just played the slots. To no surprise, we lost all of our free money. After eating some great food and sleeping the night at the hotel, the next day we started to use our own money. This began my first session playing craps.
I watched a Youtube video the night before on both baccarat and craps. When my girlfriend and I entered the casino, we were actually heading toward the baccarat tables first. One piece of advice that stuck with me when I did some research on craps was, "If everyone is cheering and ecstatic... check out the table... if everyone is miserable... run." I wanted to breeze by the craps table before heading to baccarat and see if there was any action going on. I heard some clapping while scouting out the craps tables and the faces of the people were generally happy. I told my girlfriend that I'm going to play at this table instead, and she left to go play slots.
Humorously, the table was segregated(not literally) into two sections/halves of White folk and Asian folk. There was one clear opening on the table where the white folk section was and I entered there. I mentioned that it was my first time playing craps to the guy next to me. He was an older white gentlemen who reminded me of Robert De Niro perhaps in his 50s-60s and he had his buddy next to him with a Vietnam war veteran hat on. He was very enthusiastic about teaching me the game, telling me how craps has the best edge in the casino and teaching me how to make the proper bets. He told me not to buy-in until the the point was hit. When I pointed and asked about something going on at the table he yelled "WAIT DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS OVER THE TABLE DURING A ROLL!" and shoved my hands back into me. It was clear that he was very superstitious about this game, and yes, he was also wearing red. He rambled about a lot of things about the game of craps and to be honest, I couldn't understand 60% of what he was saying. I bought in for $100 and mostly played the pass line and the odds bet, which is something I learned on youtube. The older gentlemen encouraged me on and told me that the odds bet is the best bet in the casino and to also make place bets on the 6 and 8 if I wanted. That is how I stuck to playing the whole time.
When the dice came to me, I noticed that previously everyone at the table set the dice in a particular manner. I followed along and simply chose numbers I felt comfortable with, which were double 3's. 3 has always seemed to be my lucky number in life. I now know that simply setting the top number alone is not really "dice setting" because you need to match the numbers on the side of the dice in a consistent manner too. My first three rolls were craps numbers, and I was a little disappointed in myself because I saw everybody losing money. But, the older gentlemen egged me on because he placed money on the "craps" horn bet to "protect himself", and he was still making money. Finally, the craps numbers stopped coming and I started to really roll. It felt like I had the dice for 15 minutes and hit 3 or 4 points.
The older gentlemen said to his friends "We created a monster boys, we have the Messiah here." What is very funny about this statement.... is that all my recent usernames for the videogames I play have been "The Messiah". Also, I was wearing a gold Jesus piece hanging from my neck that day. Perhaps my shooter nickname will now be the Messiah ;)
In the end, my girlfriend wanted to leave but I wanted to wait for a particular Asian fellow to roll the dice because I saw him on multiple hot rolls. The way I approached this first game was based solely off good vibes, patterns, and superstition. In the past, playing texas hold em was very methodical and strategical and that continued to result in me losing money. My mother who is a very superstitious person, always seems to win when gambling. And so, I decided to dump strategy and just go with my gut feelings. When the older gentlemen came back from a break he had, he asked me how the table was going. I said, "I'm about to leave the table but I wanted to wait for this Asian guy to be my last roll because he rolls really good". As soon as I say that, his next roll 7's out. The older gentlemen and I look at each other and we both understood what I "said wrong there". In the end I came out positive $140 and with my buy-in, 140% profit I felt was pretty darn good. I thanked the gentlemen for his help, colored up, and went on my way.
Session 2
Only a few weeks from the first session, my coworkers and I have been talking about planning a trip to the casinos. After my first session, it bolstered my idea to use my coworkers free comp rooms and hangout together in Atlantic City. I also invited my girlfriend to this trip. For my second session, I went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It didn't matter to me which casino I went to but my coworker wanted to check out this newer built casino because she didn't have a chance yet. Ultimately, we separated to eat food right off the bat, and due to poor phone service and a poor coincidence, I ended up playing craps alone for about 3-4 hours while waiting for my girlfriend to finish work and drive over to head to our free comp room at Harrah's casino.
I hit the tables and was hoping to find a $5 minimum but unfortunately they were all $10. There were only two $10 tables and all the tables were packed, so I had no selection choice this time and simply parked myself into a vacant spot. This time around, I made friends with a younger 30s black gentlemen who looked like an un-kempt Morris Chestnut. Let me tell you, this guy was loud, obnoxious, and just very emotional the entire time. What ruined the vibe a bit, was that he kept shitting on his girlfriend for being a terrible roller. He made statements like "Everytime I bet money on you, I know you're gunna lose. Why do I even bother anymore? You are absolutely terrible and useless". This was not said in a joking manner, and he literally announced it to the entire table. The dealers were clearly getting annoyed with his attitude. He was happy to be with me though because for the most part, I continued to roll well, similar to my first session. Unfortunately, the table as a whole was a bit dry and I ended up losing my first $100 buy-in. I took a 45 minute break to get rid of the mojo, and reentered a new table, but to my surprise, I was standing yet again next to the younger black gentlemen. This time, he put me in between himself and his girlfriend, because he was screaming that his girlfriend was a bad luck magnet. It's funny however, that his girlfriend actually was rolling very terribly that night. She 7'ed out in less than 2-5 rolls every single time. I may need to pull out some Don't Passes in the future for this type of roller ;)
At first, I set the dice with double 3's but it didn't go as well as I had hoped. And my philosophy is, "if it ain't working, change it up". So I ended up switching the set to two 6's. Now, let's not argue about whether dice setting even works, I just do it. My strategy was still the same, pass line and odds. However, I did two place bets every round and solely chose them based on patterns and feelings. For example, I was rolling a lot of 10's that night so I often put place bets on 10 when I rolled. Surprisingly, this strategy actually worked very well for me, and most of the time my two place bets hit very often. And after about 8 rolls, I would usually pull out of my place bets before the 7 out and this worked wonderfully too. The table ended up switching to $15 but I still needed to kill some time before my girlfriend came, so I moved to another $10 minimum table.
There was nothing special about the table except these group of late 30s-mid 40s white women who were on their yearly high school reunion. All blonde and very pretty and definitely what you'd consider MILFS. They said they would only join the table if it had good vibes and if everybody was cheering and clapping for one another. I told her that its not like that currently, but we would love to have you bring that energy here. They ended up buying in right next to me. I was next to the stick on the right side with absolutely nobody on my right side, so they ended up completely filling that spot. One of the girls was standing uncomfortably close to me right behind the stickman and was asking me weird questions. She was clearly piss drunk. Luckily the pit boss noticed this and asked her if she would be more comfortable standing next to her friends. Thank you pit boss....
They wanted to know the names of every roller at the table and constantly cheered and livened up the table for every roll. Unfortunately, the other half of the table wasn't as enthusiastic. One interesting thing that happened this session, is I had a place bet on 6, and turned it off after approximately 8 rolls like I usually do. This ended up not working in my favor, because the woman to my right ended up rolling seven 6's in a row.... WHAT THE HECK.
In the end, I won back the $100 I lost and also went positive $70. I was happy with this result.
Session 3
After sleeping a night at Harrah's Casinos, my girlfriend and I woke up to gamble. She went for the slots again and I went to the craps tables. Hard Rock Casino seems to have a much livelier environment, filled with bright lights and younger people. For me, Harrah's was downright dark, depressing, and filled with a lot of older people. Before my girlfriend left to play slots, I wanted to show her what craps was like and show her the ropes a little. I entered at absolutely the most perfect time.
The man to the right of the stick, a 30s year old white gentlemen who looked like Colin Farrell, was on a hot roll. He made 4 points in a row, on his very first dice roll after the come-out, all 4 times. The dice came to me and I decided to roll the dice differently again. Although I did use the double 6 again, I stacked them on top of each other. Again, my rolls were hot and although I only hit 2-3 points, I had the dice for at least 10 minutes, not 7'ing out easily. The 30 year old gentlemen and I passed compliments at each other after fist bumping. He ended up leaving with his wife and I asked him how well he did. He said he won over $500.
Unfortunately as the game progressed, a rude Indian guy two spots to my left kept passing comments about how slow the game was and how slow the players were. He kept pressing on to tell everyone to hurry the fuck up. Based on the rolling pattern of a roller on a wheelchair to my left, I had a gut instinct that he was going to hit a 12 or 2 because he had been hitting them a lot. I threw in 1 dollar for high and 1 dollar for low at the very end of the betting cycle. The Indian guy then started to yap, whine, and complain about how the progress of the game keeps getting slowed by these molasses players (ie me). In the end, I hit the high 12 and make an easy $30 (yeah screw you). Because of his vibe, I decided it was time to leave and colored up.
I ended up positive $170, and happily took my earnings away to go find my girlfriend. This is where the story becomes a bit more interesting.
My girlfriend used $100 but lost $70. She was sad to have only $30 left and asked me what she should do with it. Should she just dump it into the slot machines, she asked? Before she had left to play slots prior, I offered her to roll the dice at my table, but she was a bit squeamish about doing so without much knowledge of the game, and rightfully so, because craps has always been an intimidating game. However, with only $30 left, and a dream to be had, I told her I would teach her how to play craps, and so we went onward to the craps table!
With a $30 buy in and a babyface, the dealer immediately asked my girlfriend for her ID. When we got our chips, I did not touch the money at all, but simply told my girlfriend where she should place her bets (pass line) and the choices she could make if she wanted to(odds and place bets). The table was alright, allowing our buy in to stay pretty at around $30. The goal was simply to make her $100 back. When the dice came to her, she stepped up to the plate. She decided to random roll it and placed one dice on top of the other. I told her "just throw it at the wall". She proceeded to go on an amazingly long streak. She ended up hitting 4 points and was about to hit the 5th point. The other half of the table were practically off their seats waiting for their "FIRE BETS" to hit the 5th point and make their 230:1 odds. Unfortunately, my girlfriend missed the wall with a light throw and threw them at some chips. And you know what they say.... "when it hits the money, it lands funny." And upon this throw, she ended up 7'ing out, and the other half of the table whined aloud "AWWW". This rude black gentlemen to our left actually insulted my girlfriend and said "Why the fuck would you throw the dice at the chips like that? You have all this room on the table... aim for the damn wall and the open space." I proceeded to tell him that this was her first time rolling and for him to calm down. He responded in disbelief and said, "That is definitely not her first time rolling stop lying. I saw you two at the golden nugget yesterday.... Right...?"
No.... I was not at the golden nugget yesterday. The dealer fought back and also said "HEY, shes just a baby." The man ended up apologizing, yet it makes me think to myself... why people are so unappreciative of a great roll when the end result is always going to be a 7 anyway. And even if we WERE at the golden nugget and this WASN'T her first time rolling, how it would be acceptable for you to talk like that anyway.

ANYWHO, these were my first 3 sessions playing craps. Thanks for reading if you got this far. I hope somebody got some amusement reading these stories. I really enjoy craps because of the camaraderie and energy that the tables can have and the feeling (or illusion) that you can control your fate by being the one to roll your own dice. Also, historically I have not been lucky at gambling games like texas hold em and blackjack, so to win 3 times in a row at craps was a great refresher. Furthermore, the idea of winning money off other people's luck is also very appealing!

tl;dr I played 3 sessions of craps that went really well and my girlfriend also rolled incredibly well her first time. I was planning to play baccarat but actually never did after playing craps.

So what is the latest on how people are cheating slot machines?	I'm not too aware of any recent developments in cheating. I do know however that a few years ago the way to do this was by bypassing third party devices. What are these devices? I'm talking about bill acceptors, printers, or top box bonus devices. A few years ago, a couple in Tahoe found that JCM's bill acceptor had a huge flaw where they accepted photocopied ten dollar bills. That's right - PHOTOCOPIED bills. But only in ten. All the couple had to do was put a bunch in, immediately cash out, then take the ticket to a cash dispensing kiosk or the cage. After all was said and done, they took home $400,000 and multiple felonies. They got caught and convicted.
Are there any casinos that still have old fashioned mechanical or electro-mechanical slots in use?	Another way is to trigger the bonus controller that controls the bonus games but this is tougher to do and requires timing. IGT's Indiana Jones cabinet runs a controller that controls all the games on a bank. Once the in house progressive reached a certain amount (say, $9,999), all the players had to do was figure out the threshold which was usually a round number like $10,000. They knew that the closer this prog amount was to $10,000, the likelihood of the machine hitting the bonus was greater. So at a bank of 4 machines, they'd observe and wait for the bonus amount to get close to that threshold. Once there, the 4 would only play one penny a pull until someone hit the bonus (which was community at the time). Though fair, IGT's only recourse was to require "committed betting." No longer would you be able to play one credit (one cent) at a time. I believe the minimum came out to 40 cents a pull, and required that you bet a certain amount to qualify for the bonus. During training at IGT's facility in Reno, we programmed the amount on the controller to get as close as possible to the threshold and sure enough, we got the bonus plus wins every time.
	To answer your other questions -
	Not that I know of. At downtown vegas off Fremont st., I see IGT S+ machines from the late 90s still, but these aren't elecro-mechanical. The only old style 'Liberty Bells' invented by Charles Fey (invento of the slot machine), and other electro mechanical style machines I ever saw was at the 'Liberty Belle' resautaurant in Reno. This was run by Charles Fey's grandson who was in his 80s when I met him almost ten years ago. Grandson Fey was an awesome guy and always excited to see IGT techs. Also, the best prime rib and in house cola I ever had. They were in an odd location right in front of the convention center. Eventually, Grandson Fey got bought out by the convention center and retired. I imagine he is no longer present in this life.
	It's very easy to adjust payouts on most machines. However that range is pre set by the manufacturer. For example, on an IGT AVP cabinet, you have various payouts that range from 85% up to 99%. Same with WMS, Bally, Aristocrat, etc. If you want to set up the cabinet for tournament mode, you need to order the tournament chips from a sales associate. The machines in various lobbies of manufacturers are all set to 'demo mode' with respective demo mode chips.
	That being said, as a slot tech manager, I got reports every month from auditing and revenue of machines that were 'exceptions.' These exceptions indicated that the payback percentage (we called them PAR in the industry) were either too high or too low (usually outside of a 3% threshold). What I mean is, if I set a machine to 90% theoretical payback, but it was only actually paying back 86%, I would have to investigate why. Furthermore, if it was paying back too much and was at 94% payback, same deal. I usually would send a tech to check it out, have him reboot the machine and tell me "Nothing wrong boss." Any machine that had 3 months of exceptions were usually taken off the floor, converted to another theme, or memory cleared. That's assuming it didnt hit a huge jackpot that fudged the numbers.
Can the casinos control how well certain slots pay out? It seems sometimes the new machines pay well for a while and they get people hooked and then after a while they go to shit.	Yes. Newer machines always pay out better because they don't have a history the machine can fall back on. All PAR sheets that are released by the manufacturers (these are like the instruction setup manuals for slot machines that show payouts and percentages) will show a chart detailing the percentage changes. The closer you get to a million pulls, the lower the percentage fluctuation. It'll say 1-1000 pulls: +/-6%, 1001-10,000 pulls: +-3%...etc. At 10,000,000 pulls the number becomes fairly consistent with the actual payback that is set by the slot manager. So yes based on your statement and observation, as the games go on and have a history, they begin to 'correct' and function closer to the percentage set by the casino.
Do they have control over other aspects of the game? I've played one machine and one casino will give 8 free spins in a bonus where another casino only gives 5.	This is theme specific. Some themes award you 8 spins on a bonus. Others it will depend on some bullshit number you picked three in a row. Or like on Gilligan's Island, you pick one of 5 characters and based on that character you'll get any number of spins. The casino doesn't control this - it's programmed into the software by the slot manufacturer.
Also, are the games in a bank all connected to one another and payout according to how busy that bank is?	No. Well...maybe. It differs. (examples below)
	All machines in a casino are connected via the player tracking system. Also called the "Online Accounting System." Techs call it "Back of House." (yeah, confusing I know...) All this system does is log and monitor how much money is coming in (called COIN IN) and how much money is going out (COIN OUT). These tools help accounting stay within regulation and compliance, and also eases up on paperwork. Companies began incorporating interactive menus into these systems, offering promotions and free play based on the player's history. For the most part, this doesn't affect whether or not a machine will play out. And contrary to public opinion, free play credits on a machine won't "tighten" up its percentage.
	Machines connected to "one another" are only so with a progressive controller. And this is where it gets technical. The public perception of the 99% payout banks are completely wrong. They are also completely wrong when described by so called "Casino Pros" on television. The classic explanation is that "Only one machine at that bank is set at 99%. But you gotta find which one!" This isn't true at all. When you see a sign that claims 99% payback, it's a twist, but not like the one I just described.
	This is a clearer example: At the particular bank, all machines are set at 90%. Not one of them is set to 99%. Where does the 9% come from? Isn't this illegal? No. You'll notice that every single bank claiming the 99% looseness is always usually at a progressive bank. What happens is that the progressive controller that links all of the machines also takes a 1% rake of the earnings and throws it into an imaginary 'pot.' If there are 9 machines at a bank, and you are taking 1% from each machine to throw into the progressive 'pot,' you are drawing 9% payback to the customer, on top of the 90% that the machine is set to. Hence 99% payback. Hope this makes sense and clears this up for everyone.
	The perception that machines win more when it is busy is simple mathematics - the more people in a casino, the more likely the machines are being paid, and the more chances of these machines hitting a jackpot. Your chances of hitting a jackpot are essentially the same whether it's busy or not.
So, after looking at your comments regarding slots and best odds, am I to assume then that the best odds of winning at slots would come from a new poker machine that I have not yet won at?	The only issue with that is that poker machines are rarely ever new. They are so great at what they do, built so well and tough, that it's very, very rare to see a new poker machine. Many casinos I've seen on the strip or in Reno are older generation machines. They last forever, and pay off well, but it's very rare to see new ones. Also keep in mind that these machines are usually distractions. As a slot manager, it's ideal to leave these in a high traffic area where you are diverted to spend your money on something else - the gift shop, the buffet, a bar. You can place the machines almost anywhere else on the casino floor and they will most likely do poorly. The more you move them towards a high traffic area with a diversion, the more you'll make off of them. It's just science (and a bit hype and marketing as well).
Also, if I were to ask a floor employee about which machine I should play, how would I go about that, and do they really know ? How?	This is a tricky one. The floor employees are usually slot attendants, also called change-persons. Many times the only two types of machines they tend to are a) broken ones, and b) jackpot machines. So as a tech when I ask them which machines are paying out, they'll say one that they paid multiple jackpots on. But this is a very bad statistic or information to fall back on. It's possible that the machine wins many jackpots, but pay poorly for the casual player who just wants to have fun and make a buck or two. Furthermore, many casinos are fairly lax and many times allow their own employees to play after or before their shift. If not, they can easily go across the street (or in CA, another Indian casino across the county) and play the same machine. I'll tell you this - slot attendants are some of the most broke people I've known. Take that for what it's worth.
	Just like slot people, dealers are the second most broke people I know. And keep in mind, slot attendants and dealers live off their 'toke' (what we call tips in our industry). They seriously make way more than anybody after all is said and done. Many make much more than their salaried supervisors/manager, but it's never a guaranteed thing, and it's shitty to have to work holidays and weekends, on odd shifts. That being said, since dealers DO work toward that tip, they want you to win just like you want to! The mind of a dealer operates on safe plays, so if you ask them for advice, they will always suggest playing it safe. Better to go with what's in your hand, then lose it all to a bet that is in the casino's favor. So it's completely up to you. Based on all of the footage I've watched in the surveillance room and countless hours if not years on the floor, my advice would be to play it safe. Let that luck hit you on the first hand/roll instead of getting killed on that second chance.
