5 Most Realistic Roblox Games That You Need To Play

what game makes the most money on roblox

what game makes the most money on roblox - win

Exploiting: ROBLOX'S Fault and Responsibility; NOT DEVELOPERS'!

(burner account, obviously) Let me preface this by saying that I am not the subject of ROBLOX moderation, I am a game developer who is sick and tired of ROBLOX ignoring our cries for help simply because they don't have to do anything to make a quick buck.

Final Edit: I'm going to stop replying to comments now as I think I've touched on everything I need to clear up. Keeping up with this post has been quite exhausting, I'll check in on it again in a few days.

Towards the end of this post, I will mention several solutions to secure the ROBLOX platform. I am not pulling random ideas out of the air, I am a career cyber security professional who has implemented similar systems for clients on numerous occasions and saw massive success.
I am sick and tired of ROBLOX's malicious ineptitude when it comes to moderating their own platform and then blaming developers, they dispense moderation unevenly across the players. For example, the fact that there are literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of ROBLOX 'burner' accounts does not seem to bother them, but if you upload an image with a misplaced letter, your account will be suspended post haste.
ROBLOX's entire business model is based on the ability for them to hire as FEW moderators as possible, and then sit back and watch the cash pour in. They repeatedly mention in several official corporate documents that their player base is appreciably larger than their competitors, but they don't seem to mention that you can automate account creation so well, that individual games are having an absolute nightmare tip toeing around the developer TOS but still trying to have a functional game.
Let me make this as clear as I can, with no exceptions, moderating the community is the responsibility of ROBLOX's official moderators, and they do an absolutely TERRIBLE job at it. For the most part, the built in report system is ignored because 90% of the time nothing is done.
"Filtering Enabled" did NOT solve the issue, and it only barely scratched the surface of securing the game environment for players; this was 2 years ago. ROBLOX needs to abandon their leitmotif of ignoring cries of help from the community, and actually invest some money in making their games playable.
IT SHOULD NOT BE GAME DEVELOPERS' RESPONSIBILITY TO SPEND HOURS AND HOURS DOING ROBLOX'S JOB, MAKING BARELY FUNCTIONAL ANTI EXPLOIT SYSTEMS THAT QUICKLY BECOME OUTDATED. THE ENTIRE POINT OF HAVING A PLATFORM LIKE ROBLOX IS TO AVOID DEALING WITH SOME OF THE UGLY PARTS OF GAME DEVELOPMENT, BUT IF THEY AREN'T DOING THEIR JOB, WHY ARE WE PAYING THEM ROYALTIES?

And now since I am not one to bring up issues without a viable solution, here are several that can be simply and cheaply implemented, and that I believe will be extremely effective.

I doubt that my post will gain traction, but if anyone from ROBLOX ends up reading this I plead with you on behalf of the community to implement some, if not all of the suggestions I have laid out for you. They are simple, they are easy, and they are cost effective, there's no reason you should be unable to do what I have described.

Edit: Changed the number of maximum accounts per IP address from 2 to 30, which will effectively do the same job of blocking bad actors, whether they are end users or account farms.

Edit 2: I appreciate all of the attention people have given this post, I hope that someone at ROBLOX will do something.

Also, if I don't reply to your comment it's because I already debunked / explained your concerns / questions in another, very similar comment, so you can try searching for it. But I will add in a few of the common concerns:

Here's a devforum post as an example (see the solution to the post): https://devforum.roblox.com/t/how-to-prevent-exploiters-from-flying/

Stop defending ROBLOX, their business practices are unethical and if I had to guess I would say borderline ILLEGAL, considering their monopoly in the market space and their prices.

Please stop with the "simulators are bad and easy to make and x game deserves way more recognition because it is way better!" posts/topics

Intro
I know this will probably be down voted to heck but please hear me out because I know a lot of people think this way and I wanted to offer another perspective from a developer who works on a game that is generally regarded as being more unique or visually polished or whatever.
Stop with the "simulator devs are lazy, simulators are bad and easy to make and quick cash grabs, and this game deserves way more recognition because I think it's a lot cooler" talks.
It's a super over simplified thought process.
Why
These games(simulators, roleplays, what have you), are much harder to make than you think. Take it from someone who has actively worked on prototypes for several of them.
People often overlook everything beneath the surface of success - and this is no exception. You'd typically only know this if you've tried to create one, or have been developing for awhile.
Hence me offering some insight. I'm not claiming to be a know it all of anything, but I'd say I have my fair share of experience. I've been developing on this platform for 12 years now, have released a game that does as well as most of these simulators(and no, it's nothing close to a simulator and actually quite niche comparatively), and I've worked on loads of projects - many of which being what you may call a simulator.
They generally take just as much if not more thought, design, execution, and marketing than anything else.
But simulator devs are lazy greedy people that only care about money!
The amount of developers/games that have extremely immoral monetization practices on roblox is probably less than you think. And no, aggressively monetizing a game is not being greedy or immoral. It's a developer trying to earn a living off something that is typically their full time job. There's nothing wrong with making these games or trying to maximize profits from them. Lots of these developers love making games but in order to continue their dreams they need to find ways to turn it into a well paying job too. Also, people have different goals with what they want to get out of game development. Some do it for money and that's that, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't personally belong to that category but that's because it's my passion(and also my job)
But X game is way better and so underrated!
There's this common fallacy/mistake in thought where people look at some game that is super polished or unique looking, and directly compare them to some simpler game and come to the conclusion that the game they like doesn't have recognition because of it.
It's a product of bias, and it's not usually that simple. A lot of these games that don't do well but look amazing are typically:
So what are you actually seeing then?
Don't misunderstand my previous point - simulator games(and games like it) ARE generally less risky on roblox. And that's why they're so prevalent and why people think they're so easy to make. Because a lot of developers don't want to try to undergo the gamble of innovation.
There are a lot of them for this reason, and because their game design typically aligns better with the target demographic of roblox - and the social pillars on which all successful roblox games need to be built - they do better than "polished but incompatible game x"
That's not to say that more innovative or niche games can't do well! I don't want to come off as boasting but I think I'm at least partial testament to that - as are games that are also large(maybe not quite as massive in concurrents as some other games but still do very well). Shark Bite, Rogue Lineage, just to name a couple off the top of my head.
There's also a fair amount of risk/luck involved whenever you take on a riskier project - be it a risky genre, or just something that isn't recycled from market trends. Games like simulators do well - and that's why they do well. Think about it. People make these games because they're proven ideas. Games that aren't proven ideas or don't work as well on roblox, will naturally struggle more
So what can I do as a game developer? Why should I even bother to try to make the games of my dreams?
There's no easy way to answer this at the end of the day, but if you want my personal opinion - take some solace in the fact that a lot of these games that are typically less innovative or unique, don't usually last as long as games with a lot more time and passion put into them. Games which, at their root, had some more intrinsic motivators behind them. If your game is designed well and is high quality and is social and fun, you have a fair shot to make an experience that can last a long time. If you love what you've made chances are others will too.
Just a few examples of games I'd consider to be built from nothing but passion and innovation are Jailbreak, Adopt Me, and Vehicle Simulator(I could go on but these will suffice)
You can try to argue that these are other examples of easy or simple games because they're more "main stream", but to deny the insane amount of work and passion that went into them would be foolish.
Hope I was able to offer some good insight. Thanks!

Some thoughts for anyone just starting or newer players

Context: I started playing half heartedly during the recent halloween event so i've been playing for roughly 3 months. I grinded really hard the entire Christmas event. Here are some thoughts in no particular order.
GENERAL GAMEPLAY
  1. Per u/weedhawk_ Add 2 step authentication and a PIN on your account NOW. DO NOT ever click links that someone sends you EVER
  2. Per u/Distortedasylum if there’s a toxic person spamming the chat log type: /mute username. Makes the game so much better! just make sure to type their username EXACTLY how it is.
  3. Being a kid makes you twice the money doing tasks. It's super annoying when people pick you up and mess with you. Per u/ak2731 To prevent people from picking you up when you are playing, simply hit “create family” you don’t need to add anyone else and since they are not in your family, they can no longer pick you up! :)
  4. You can build a piano in your house to take care of the playground task
  5. A money tree is worth the initial cost if you play several hours a day. You can collect up to $100 daily. There are faster ways to earn money but you're checking into your house all the time so why not get a little bonus. This is a long play.
  6. You can quickly travel to the center of the map by going to your backpack, clicking on gifts, and clicking on the + button.
  7. Walking takes sooooo long. If you like walking then ignore, but get some kind of vehicle asap. a bike is super cheap. another fast way to travel is with a grapple but its not every accurate so i don't use it. if you're desperate, hit me up and i'll give you a bike. Per u/imaveryhappypotato I recommend using roller skates from the toy store (if they're still available, I haven't checked in a long time) they are easier to control and are less likely to spiral in a random direction (just my preference since when I use bikes they go in random directions)
  8. The reason why beds in public servers glitch out is because people try to put their pets in there while their pets are still eating/drinking stuff. There may be other reasons but this is the one I discovered and was able to repeat.
  9. You can go to settings and turn off or change the following settings: family invites, party invites, trade invites, and giving items. I turned off party invites asap cuz they were super annoying.
  10. the game chat filters out a lot of random things. sometimes it filters out numbers so thats why you see won=one too=two tree=three etc. I was so confused by this when I first started. They definitely filter out all the social media sites, reddit, discord, etc.
  11. Not all food and drink behave the same way. The marshmallows at the campsite will instantly fill up your hungry meter. The water from the water cooler takes 5 sips, the water bottle or baby bottle takes like 7-8 sips something like that
  12. speaking of camp, you don't have to rent the lodge. just stand next to the bed from the oudside, click sleep on one of the beds on the inside and boom you're in there. you just have to jump out the door to exit.
  13. buy the water cooler to get water instead of buying.
  14. The shower is much faster than the bathtub, but you can't stay in the shower. your pet can though.
  15. The school has free apples but I like to buy a plate of donuts to keep in my house next to the water cooler to stockpile food and drink when i first start a session.
  16. I stock up on golden apples when i start a session as well and that takes care of when you're sick.
  17. You can only take so many golden apples, apples, and marshmallows. Confirmed to be 30 by u/TehFurret
  18. Don't beg for pets, it's annoying. It may work but it just bothers me on a fundamental level :) Instead, just change your name to "taking unwanted pets" or something to that effect. There are people that will give you random things and you're not spamming the chat. I've gotten a few pets this way when I first started. u/Important-Fox-5111 has a tip. dress up as the trashcan and name yourself "put stuff here" or whatever and that'll work even better! but they say its not a good thing to do because it's still begging and people might come up to you and give you grief so ymmv :)
  19. Every "day" in the game is 15 hours. So you can collect your daily streak more than once per day sometimes if you time it correctly.
  20. If you're going to grind, do so during limited events to maximize your trading potential. limited pets will gain value over time.
  21. Aging up legendaries takes a long time. Someone on here has done the calculations but its somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-6 hours straight from newborn to full grown. This scales with rarity, a common pet being much much faster.
  22. If you're going to use robux, wait for a sale. they happen every few months and well worth the wait.
  23. Per u/Tiny-Nebula-8146 I am going to add that you can also teleport to home for free. just click on the roblox button top left and choose reset character. you will reappear home with all your tasks still needed to be completed. very useful if you need to get a shower. only issue is that you have to take your pet out again, but the task will still be there for it also.
  24. Per u/Miss_juicedbanana you can teleport to the playground by teleporting to the baby shop (Inv, strollers, get more, teleport to baby shop) and walking out of it. Saves you from having to buy the piano.
Trading
  1. Age swapping is a real thing and very profitable because some people don't want to or have the time to raise pets. It's when you age up a pet fully, say a dog, to full grown and you offer it up in chat, i have a full grown dog anyone want to age swap? typically someone will give you a younger aged dog and they will add stuff like a cracked egg, or an extra dog. Once you have ultra rares and legendaries to age up the adds become much better. For instance I traded away four full grown frost fury for seven newborns. This is a good way to get pets if you're just starting out in the game. And since you are doing tasks which give you money, you can buy eggs as well.
  2. Speaking of eggs, people will trade pets for eggs. In fact, its almost better to trade eggs than to hatch them. For instance I was trading fossil eggs for ultra rares all day long. one for one. you just start going up to people and put up a fossil egg and you see what they put in return. Same for royal eggs. I got a lot of pets doing this. The chances of hatching legedaries are really low even with a royal egg.
  3. ride pots are worth low tier legendaries like dragon, uni etc. fly pots are typically worth 1.5 times that
  4. just because your dog is fly ride does not mean someone will trade you a fly and ride potion for it
  5. The more rare the pet is, the less likely you will find an unpotioned one. Keep your really rare pets unpotioned until you are sure you are going to keep it forever. We are talking shadow dragons, giraffes, frosts, etc.
  6. Do not trust trade ever(unless you are okay with losing the pet). Scammers work in groups sometimes so it may look like someone got something amazing but they're in on it. There's a whole wiki on the scams in adopt me. It's nuts
  7. when a new pet comes out or an event pet comes out that costs robux the amount of overpays during the first few hours is ridiculous. if you want to cash in, that's the time to do it.
  8. Trading in public servers especially rich ones will get you the most overpays as people there don't tend to know true values of things. That being said, people will also overvalue their pets, ignore those. To find a rich server you go to your list of servers before you play the game and find one that looks like there's a lot of rich avatars in it. Trading on here or discord will make it easier to get the things you want but you'll be less likely to get overpays.
  9. If you are trying to get the really good stuff be prepared to overpay unless you have something of similar value. for instance if you want a shadow dragon and you don't have giraffes, frosts, owls, etc, be prepared to overpay.
  10. Pets that are in the game forever will always be less valuable than limited pets. Don't over pay for unis, dragons, kits, cerberus, robo dog, etc.
  11. Beware of the switcharoos. When people put up a great pet and then they start adding random stuff, they'll take out the good one and hope you don't notice. always scan the items before confirming the trade.
  12. If it's too good to be true, it usually is.

RANDOM THOUGHTS
  1. Whats up with the tiffany being slower than the douglas and axel? Or is it just me?
  2. Some things are crazy expensive like the candy cannon and the rocket sled and I could never bring myself to pay the fair amount for those things. I get the appeal but man, for a newer player it seems out of reach.
  3. Beggars are never really poor and most likely have not just been scammed. not of fan of those types.
  4. saying PLZ after i decline your trade does not make me want to do the trade. no matter how many times you say it.
  5. I've met some scummy people playing this game but for the most part my interactions have been pretty positive. Thanks to all the cool people i've traded/interacted with on here!
  6. I once saw someone post "getting rid of dragon(or something like that). i hate it" on this subreddit so I took that as they would take any offer. I gave some really lowball offer and I was downvoted to oblivion. So yeah, i don't get why people have to preface the post by saying, omg please take this off my hands. it just makes things more confusing and of course don't do that.
If you've made it this far, wow congrats, you must not be a middle schooler with the attention span of a gnat. If this helped even one person, it was worth getting my thoughts out. I know I missed a bunch of small tips and tricks so if you guys can leave your favorite ones in the comments maybe i'll learn a few new things about this game!
P.S. I'm always taking requests for growing pets since i'm always on. I'm not the cheapest but i pump out these full grown pets pretty quickly. Have a great day everybody!

What is the appeal of Crayta?

Not trashing on the game, I think it is a cool game that has a lot of potential. Its just right now, the games are kinda boring. I know its a relatively new game with new things to learn, but for the time being, there wont be any large scale games or groups making games (at least not many) because they cant make money. On Roblox and Minecraft, you are able to purchase items in game etc, which brings businesses and groups of people creating large, quality games with ingame purchases.
So what is the appeal? Most of the games are lowly populated or empty, and most games are simple, and get boring quick.
Again, I think the game is wonderful and has lots of potential, but without any reason for actual developers to develop a good game on the platform, there is no promise or assumption that games will ever reach the point where they are as big/good as ones on Roblox, eg: prison break. Minecraft, eg: The Hive, or Mineplex.
I came back to say thanks everyone for their comments. I dont have time to respond to everyone but I have read them all.

Jailbreak Pyramid of Power Explained. Please don't kill me with negatives

Jailbreak Pyramid of Power Explained. Please don't kill me with negatives

  1. Banned players: Players who for some reason, such as hacking or other fault, are banned from the games. They are in the lowest position because they cannot do anything in the game except see a screen that says they are banned and close it.Sub-classes: 1.1. Banned from the game: These are players who cannot access the game, but can access other ROBLOX games. 1.2. Banned from ROBLOX: These players are unable to enter Jailbreak and any ROBLOX game.
  2. F2P Players: They can range from complete noobs to hard-core pros. What unites this class is not being able to spend Robox in the game, which gives them certain disadvantages when doing anything. Most of them are young children or poor people who cannot spend money on the game for many reasons. They represent the majority of the players in the game. Sub-classes: 2.1 . Noobs: They are totally new players in the game, they have a great lack of experience and skill in the game, they are the worst players in the game. Most of them are under 13 years old. 2.2 . F2P Pros: Perhaps the players who suffer the most in the game. They are usually players with great skills in the game, but with zero economic capacity. Most of them take a long time to farm money. They are identifiable many times by their avatar loaded with free items. In several cases they may be superior to noobs with robux.
  3. P2P Players: These players have a great advantage over F2P, since they have the economic capacity to get game-passes, money and more in the game. It is a very diverse group, as they buy and spend to different degrees. Some presume, others are humble, some have been collecting cars from the beginning, others bought all the available cars at once.Sub-classes: 3.1 . Noobs with robux: They are players with very bad ability, but who have the economic capacity to cope with some aspects of how bad they are, such as buying vehicles and game-passes. Some when buying robux improve their ability, others remain just as bad. They are the players who show off the most in the whole game, especially degrading F2P Players. 3.2 . Pros with robux: These are players with great skills for the game, who make the most of their advantages and often help other players. Most of these are kind, although some are toxic and a few evil. They are the aspiration to be of the majority of gamers. I include myself in this group.
  4. Millionaires: They are basically an evolution of P2P Players. A millionaire is anyone with 1M or more in the game. They are usually a similar case to the pros with robux, only at a higher level, some of them can be as influential, such as L_iiaa, the richest Jailbreak player, who reached a billion dollars in the game, and received a vehicle custom from the developers. Sub-classes: 4.1. F2P Millionaires: They are players of despite having the economy against and having no advantage at all, they managed to raise large amounts of money, either by farming in small public servers, or saving from the beginning of the game, etc 4.2. P2P Millionaires: They are players who have a private server where they grow money in large quantities, as a result of much effort and time they are currently millionaires. 4.3. Money buyers: They are people who did not make an effort in the game, but they did in real life, although in most cases the ones who made an effort were their parents. They are robux noobs with an impressive level of wealth in many cases.
  5. Youtubers: They are players who are numbered, known to create content for other people in a massive way. Sometimes they can influence play, as with tires. In most cases if they join a server they get everyone's attention. Sub-classes: 5.1. Small Youtubers: They are Youtubers with less than 500,000 subscribers, they do not usually clickbait, they are good people. Their content is based on things that the biggest YouTubers don't usually upload. 5.2. Large Youtubers: These are Youtubers with more than 500,000 subscribers. They are very well known people on Jailbreak and ROBLOX in general. Unfortunately, many fell into the unethical practice of making clickbait videos, especially the Spanish-speaking ones.
  6. Hackers: They are the least ethical and most evil players in the game. They are people who use exploits, programs and other dirty methods to progress quickly in the game. They are the most hated players and at times, they are the most powerful in public servants, although there are no known hackers who have the reputation and fame of YouTubers. They tend to do a lot of damage to the game, they have many advantages over any player. Sub-classes: 6.1. Hackers for fun: They are the least offensive, they tend to hack into private or empty servers with their friends to have fun from time to time. Their hacks do not usually harm the game. The worst thing that can happen to you is to be caught hacking into a server with many strangers. 6.2. Evil hackers: These are the most evil of all players. They use hacks like super speed, flying without vehicles, teleporting, killing players out of nowhere are usually very annoying and damaging in the game. 6.3. Auto-hackers: They are the newest type, they were a great threat and nuisance to the game in the second half of 2020. They can hack for annoying or for personal gain. If they were cops, they are the infamous auto-arresters. His hacks consisted of kicking the entire server out of their vehicles first and arresting everyone. If it was criminals, it was the shameless auto-robbers, which consists of stealing all the locations by teleporting and leaving the other criminals on the server with nothing.
  7. Moderators: They are similar to hackers in that they have abilities far beyond a normal player, but they use it for good, and the techniques they use are legal. They are used by creators and have many degrees. They are few of those who know what happens with the developers and the upcoming and hidden content of the game. They usually put order in the game, on the sub-reddit and on the Discord server.
  8. Developers: There are 2 players, Asimo3089 and badcc. They are the most powerful people in the game, as well as the creators, modifiers, and updaters of the game. They are in charge of continuing to add more things to the game, make the game a better place together with the moderators and respond to user suggestions.

An In Depth Look Into Roblox(RBLX) And Why I Am Buying Come IPO Day

An In Depth Look Into Roblox(RBLX) And Why I Am Buying Come IPO Day
Alright guys, so a couple of days ago I took one too many Adderall and in order to burn through the high, I went through Roblox’s financial statements in depth. And let me tell you, the numbers I found in there, literally makes my bull cock hard. Let me show you why in this post.
For this analysis I will first start off with a general intro into Roblox; more specifically, I will talk about what it is, what it does, and how it makes its revenue. Then I will examine the micro factors by looking at the company’s financial statements and identify any notable patterns and items of interest that can affect future profitability. Let’s begin.
What Is Roblox And Where Does Its Money Come From
Roblox started off in 2004 as a platform for human co-experience which is done in user-generated 3D digital worlds that the company considers to be the “new form of social interaction” (This part is key, social interaction, it is what sets Roblox apart from a lot of these gaming and social media companies that I will get to later on). From there, growth at the company is driven primarily from investment in technology and two mutually reinforcing network effects: content and social. This means that the more high-quality content the users create, the more additional users are attracted to the platform, and the cycle repeats. While this is going on, the company profits off of this through two main revenue streams: the sale of its virtual currency Robux (Its primary source of revenue), and subscription to Roblox Premium. Both of these I will get into later on.
Putting all of this together means the company is NOT a gaming company like EA, nor is it purely a social media or user-generated content company like Facebook or YouTube; rather, the company is a mix of all three. I say this because unlike a traditional gaming company like EA who spends millions each year developing a new game that may or may not turn into shit with their fanbase (every A.C game after Ezio), Roblox just sits back, relax, and let their own content creators do the heavy lifting by creating games on their platform which draws in the users, which in turn purchases the microtransactions on Robux and subscribes to Roblox Premium.
Now, the reason why I say Roblox is similar in some sense to Facebook and YouTube is that on Roblox you to can create friends and social groups with people you meet in real life and on their virtual world. There you can exchange ideas, build worlds together, or just play games and chat to each other. Much like a Facebook account, some people log on to Roblox purely to chat with their friends for extended periods of time. Now in terms of YouTube, the biggest similarity Roblox has with the content creating company is that Roblox’s content creators are PAID and paid well. In 2020, its content creators are estimated to make $250m, that’s more than double the $110m they made in 2019 (The money Roblox pays to its content creators are called Developer Exchange Fees on their S-1). The creators earn money whenever a user spends their virtual currency in one of their games and how much time premium users spend in their games. For some of their games, Roblox will share as much as 70% of the proceeds with the content creators (https://venturebeat.com/2020/07/28/roblox-expects-to-pay-250-million-to-its-mostly-teen-developers-this-yea#:~:text=As%20mentioned%2C%20Roblox's%20developers%20are,of%20Premium%20subscribers%20in%2Dgame). So unlike YouTube, where they try to penny pinch anyway they can, Roblox actually recognizes that their content creators are the key to their growth strategy and will make sure that they are well compensated in order to sustain their growth engine and judging on the fact that their daily active user (DAU) growth is a whopping 96.86% YoY based on their Q3 figures, it’s probably a winning strategy (page 107 of S-1).
Lastly, it is also important to note that a lot of the growth in DAU and bookings is driven by the pandemic lockdowns, but a look into the company’s operating metrics will show that the company has enjoyed significant growth in users, hours engaged, and bookings well before the pandemic, which means that the company should be able to continuously grow at a significant pace even post covid.

TL;DR Any analyst saying Roblox is a ‘gaming’ company is the equivalent of them saying Tesla is just another ‘automobile’ company and giving it a $200PT (Roblox S-1 IPO filing released - cnbc.com). They’re retarded and so are you if you’re listening to them. Roblox is a mix of a gaming and social media company with explosive growth in DAU.

The Financials
Balance Sheet
Looked at the statement and its absolutely fucking solid. Here is a snapshot so you know I’m not pulling this out of my ass.

https://preview.redd.it/hwqw0i74tf161.png?width=943&format=png&auto=webp&s=dcfbd4c78af77777b555a046d08ff922f2979ad4
As you can see, both current(1,212,259) and total assets(1,489,541) are greater than their current(904,302) and total liabilities(1,436,664). This means this company is both liquid and solvent so it is strong on a balance sheet perspective. One liability I want to focus on however is their deferred revenue, which is by far the largest liability the company has on their balance sheet. For all you non-accountants out there, deferred revenue is unearned revenue, meaning they received payment for a service that they have yet to provide. For Roblox, that service refers to the perks that come from the purchases of Robux or subscription to Roblox Premium. The company also refers to the purchase of Robux as bookings and will accrue these liabilities and the revenue generated from them over the average lifetime of a paying user which is 23 months(page 23 of S-1). This means that this liability will not result in future cash outflow, which means the company will be less restricted in investing more into itself or continue to pay its content creators.
TL;DR: Company is solid based on balance sheet fundamentals. Their largest liability is their unearned/deferred revenue which isn’t going to create a cash outflow that will impact future investments.
Income Statement

https://preview.redd.it/mphvkz9ctf161.png?width=895&format=png&auto=webp&s=5c416e32fc628b5f29e58091be1e993c7ce0bf13
The first thing you are going to notice is the explosive revenue growth of 68% (588,675 / 349,888) which shows that the company is doing really well during the pandemic. In addition, the company is able to keep its core operating expenses growth stable to its revenue growth while keeping its other expenses such as G&A and Sales/Marketing to a bare minimum. This shows that the management of Roblox knows how to run a tight ship. In addition, it can be argued that a lot of these expenses are really an investment into the company’s own future, such as paying content creators (Developer exchange fees), investing in infrastructure, and research and development. Honestly, I would prefer the company to run up losses on these expenses early on in order to help scale its growth than to have them do it later on.
TL;DR: Revenue growth is high for years and the majority of expenses are attributed to the company investing those proceeds into the business and its operations which in turn will help fuel future growth.
Conclusion
This is a truly unique company that combines all the best characteristics of the gaming, social media, and content creation industries. The company has solid fundamentals, strong revenue, and user growth, and will most likely significantly scale their business upwards for the foreseeable future. Even though this company is most likely going to turn into a WSB meme, the fundamentals themselves support large price appreciation in the stock.
Get in retards.
I plan to buy stocks when they IPO, and switch half my holdings into leap calls when options become available.

*Stop asking me when is the IPO date or at what price they will IPO yet. Company hasn't decided yet*

Can we talk about adopt me and how pets ruined it.

Adopt Me. The game that refuses to move it's position on the most popular list. Why was it popular. Pets. The game used to be like Adopt and Raise a Kid, a simple roleplay game that was much better made than other rp games. Then they added pets. The community went crazy for pets, and loved the idea of having one that was unique. They would pay robux, scam, and beg for pets. The community became toxic. Now, every update, there are just new toys and pets. There are always at least 20 people at spawn, begging for pets. And if you look around, nobody is raising a family. Just pets. The description of the game no longer even MENTIONS raising children. The developers knew they were making money off these pets and simply focused on them and loot crates. It kinda is turning into an EA-esque game, and has spun off thousands of rip-offs, scams, Roblox crashes, and more. Pets ruined Adopt Me, and no matter what you say, I'm not changing my mind.

My Opinion of Bloxburg in 2020/2021, what I (and many others possibly) would like to see, and what needs to be improved

Lets set the record strait here, this is not a post of me hating on Coeptus, or any other contributors to Welcome to Bloxburg, or any other games/people in the Roblox community. Please take this post with consideration instead of getting agitated over certain issues that you may or may not see any problem with.
Welcome to Bloxburg. Mine, and many other's favorite Roblox title. A flagship creation, constantly ranked as the highest earning, and highest rated Roblox game for 3-4 years. Its very fun, and addicting, with hundreds of groups, accounts, and people all over the internet who make this wonderful game their passion, their pride and joy. I have played this game since 2015 and have spent thousands of hours playing with friends and building homes. but lately I and many others, have seen multiple problems with Bloxburg. These problems I have sourced from my own opinions, and other's opinions from across the internet. I will list the problems I believe there are in a list.
  1. Lack of quality updates/ lack of updates to certain areas to the game
Games need to be updated regularly to keep player attention and to draw in new players to your game. Welcome to Bloxburg has been somewhat lacking in this department as of late. Updates are now happening in the time span of 1 1/2 to 2/3 months on average, with these updates only adding build mode specific features, and bug fixes. This usually would not be a problem, but with the time the community waits for new updates, these updates tend to be lack luster for the amount of time spent between updates. The community has taken note of this several times, as seen in the pictures provided. Many updates tend not to add very many new features if none at all. examples of these include 0.7.7, 0.7.8, 0.8.3, 0.8.4, 0.8.8, 0.9.1, 0.9.2, 0.9.4, and many more. most of these updates were very lack luster, and usually were months in between each other. (keep in mind that some of these updates came after more feature-rich updates). But my main problem is with what they are adding. Bloxburg has looked the same for years. There has been very little done anywhere other than build mode and role-playing. The world outside your house is bland, boring, and essentially dead, with most players that I see inside of their houses, building, role playing, or at work. The whole premises of the name 'Welcome to Bloxburg' is supposed to represent a community, with people out and about, and places to explore, But contrary to this, Bloxburg the town, is essentially dead. I would consider "House Building Simulator" to be a more fitting name to the game. I feel like the world has become forgotten about. With little to do outside of home other than to work and some role play here and there. The in-town stores are useless, with everything they sell being easily obtainable in build mode. The town hall is nothing but a featureless decoration. If you go into town, its likely you'll only see people working.
  1. Prices
With Build mode being such an essential part of the game, its confusing why some of the most basic of items are so outrageously expensive. I'm pretty sure we all know about this one. Bloxburg is not an easy game to get started on. to get a decent amount of money for just about anything, requires you to grind for money. Grinding, as we all know, isn't very fun. Especially for a game like Bloxburg. But on the contrary, Bloxburg is trying to emulate real life, with bills, and other life-like things added into the game. Bills are also a bit confusing, why should your bills be based on house value? If your trying to emulate real life, bills should be based on the amount of electricity/water that is used. If you buy a car, your house bill shouldn't balloon $500 or even more. My case rests on this; In real life, a paper box isn't $35, a ketchup bottle, isn't $35 a soap bottle, isn't $65. What we need is this, they either lower the prices to better match prices in real life, or they make daily payments (by daily I mean a Bloxburg day) of money around the neighborhood of 5-8k. That may sound like a little much, but with how expensive it is to build a decent house, you'll understand where i'm coming from. We do already have daily rewards, but those rewards are very low, even for premium pass holders.

3. Toxicity (controversial)
I'm going to be honest, I have never seen a more toxic Roblox community than Bloxburg. Bullying, shaming, racism, I have literally seen it all. Some of the worse I have seen is between role-players, and non role-players. I have seen many players fight and get banned for insult matches when a non role-player, well, doesn't want to role-play. I have seen people fight over flag poles in people's yards, ex. P1: "Eww american flag." P2: "What's wrong with that!?" You can obviously see where this is going. There's lots of bullying between "rich" and "poor" players, people making fun of others because their house doesn't cost $1m or they don't have 14 cars in their front yard. Iv'e seen A LOT of racism. People not wanting to be in front of my house because my Roblox character isn't white (IRL I'm black), for example, this was a real conversation I experienced. Player 1: "Be careful Lacie, the person in the house there is black, he might rob and kill you." Player 2: "ok mommy" Player 1: "lets go to a different server, I don't want to be in the same server as MarioLouis64" Me: EXCUSE ME??
I had reported them, but nothing came of it. This scenario has played out for me many times before. All in all, our community needs to get its act together and work as a team, Black or white, Role-Player or casual player. Big house of tiny house. It literally doesn't matter, were all people in the end.

There are many more problems with the game, but these are some of the most obvious ones to me, do you have anything you want to see changed? Lets have a real and open discussion about this.

The story of how I was the most annoying 12 year old

This is a very long story that some might have interest in and others couldn’t give a flying donkey. TL;DR at bottom.
The story begins in 2018. I was 12, soon to be 13. There was a game that my friend introduced me to (won’t name because it’s quite a negative part) that I instantly fell in love with. The premise was simple. Spawn a car and crash it. Not like Car Crushers. It was free and an open world with a city and everything.
I met the owner one day and we became friends on ROBLOX and he gave me VIP. This was when I’d started watching all those admin style videos on YouTube so 12 year old me begged this man in private messages to give me admin. I won’t excuse this too much but I used to just say “give me admin” and some absurd threat (“ur mom gay lol XD”). He played along with it and joked.
This isn’t too important but when they updated the game to 2.0 he did give me admin powers which I feel guilty about looking back because I was a fucking moron. Anyways, everything goes fine. I was invited to their Discord, at this time I was still 12 so violating TOS. Everything went alright until one of the admins got into beef with the developer and I stuck with the developer. Looking back, this was awful of me. The admin from what I could recall had genuine arguments against him which came up again later; all I cared for was my admin because “wow this game has 1m plays am famous!!”.
The main argument was that the developer was imitating another developer, won’t name him, but he has a very big game on ROBLOX that’s still up to this day. He and the developer were friends and the developer copied his outfit and everything.
So the admin goes and leaves, I’m still a powerhungry maniac who was in wonderland and have a developer trying to copy it. The owner at this time was still my friend. He tried getting me into voice calls but I was reluctant. Being a 12 year old on social media was a crime to my parents, so when they found out I was up to something, that pretty much ended my Discord account that’s still on the site but I have no idea how to access.
We skip ahead about a couple of months and I learn to make my own Gmail. Sign back up and rejoin. The ROBLOX game had been updated at this point and I was no longer an admin. I asked why and the developer said that he had no intentions at all of having an admin and called me a stuck up cunt. I can agree with that looking back but then he called me a bunch of racial slurs. I asked if he knew what he was saying to me but he blocked me and banned me from the Discord server, and I hadn’t friended the owner on Discord. I go to ROBLOX and he’s also removed me on their and I cannot get through. I’d basically been outplayed. I tried playing on the game but never saw the owner on it. Fell out of love I first had with the game and moved on. At this point, some of my favorite cars were now behind a paywall. This leads onto...

The Sad Ending

Today I went back to that game to see how it’s going. In fact, I check back regularly. Since the end of 2018, the game has been promising a “V5 overhaul”. They were going to update the game to make it much better. This is the interesting part.
I go to play it in 2019 and the game is still in V4 but has more gamepasses and slightly more content. Still no word from the owner. 2020, STILL in V4, even more gamepasses and the promise of “better content. Buy gamepasses now for a cheaper price before V5”.
The game basically became one of those tycoons where a rainbow shop on the left fills your screen with false promises and it’s sad to see a game I loved go this way. There were lots of good memories on it that have just been lost behind an overdone paywall.
The amount of broken things was ridiculous as well. You’d spawn a car and it would fall apart immediately.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Half Life 3 came before the new and improved version. Sure, it might take a while for updates but 3 years for a game that’s about as simple as a 2012 game.
What happened to the owner? I found out in the end. He quit ROBLOX a year ago and gave the developer his account. I do miss the shit we did in that game but maybe me leaving after how I got to that point was for the best. The way I found out was the most melancholy way.
As I played today for the first time since pre-lockdown, I visited the site where there used to be an apartment; all the admins had their own room and it was a blast. This was long gone because me and the other admin were the only admins, along with the developer and the owner. In their places were two characters which were very cheaply placed, as they had the words “CharacterLoader” on top. They had dialogue prompts which simply read:
“What happened to the owner?”
“The owner quit a year ago and gave me the account. Don’t call me [by the account name]. Call me [the developer’s name].
Smack in the face. Nostalgia can rip you heart out. Probably too recent for nostalgia but my life has changed vastly in the last 3 years even outside this global situation.

TL:DR; begged for admin in a game. Eventually got kicked out and saw the game slowly become a money grab and the owner quit ROBLOX without saying farewell.

I deserve it for what I did.
I won’t have comments enabled because I simply don’t enjoy communicating with others on Reddit too much anymore. If you want anything asking, send a DM.

Does Roblox Actually Care About Its Users?

Edit: I AM NOT ASKING WHETHER OR NOT ROBLOX CARES ABOUT ITS USERS. The questions I'm hoping we can answer is not the question in the title. I chose the title because it's a general question people have been asking for years. It is not what we're trying to figure out here. Please, I mean this in the nicest way, but do not respond if you have not read the post.
This is very lengthy, but bear with me. I'd genuinely like the comments section to become a pool of useful information from people of different backgrounds and experiences with Roblox.
I'm aware there's countless posts complaining about Roblox moderation, but I hope to actually ask a question in this post. Before I begin I'd like to say I understand that this subreddit is not run by or created by Roblox staff. I'm asking this here because I know there's people on this subreddit from all sorts of Roblox backrounds, and I'm hoping we can at least make some kind of step forward in understanding Roblox a little better here.
We all know Roblox moderation isn't the best, to say the least. In fact just last week my account was deactivated under the false claim that a piece of audio I had uploaded was distorted and thus inappropriate (It was clean audio, I made sure of this before I uploaded it.). This was done without any warning, and this was also the first time my account had faced a punishment from moderation. I never broke any of the ToS, nothing. The exact same thing happened to my cousin, about a week ago. He also had a clean record, never broke any of the ToS.
Some time ago, in the beginning of the pandemic, I was playing a game with 5 of my friends, and a user began sexually harassing 2 of my friends, and a second user joined in. Neither of them stopped, even after being told the 2 friends were minors (the users claimed to be 22 and 19), so the 6 of us reported them in-game. After we left the game, I went to their profiles and reported them. Fast-forward to 2 weeks later, a moderator responds to my ticket asking for details, and I gave it to them in full. I also mentioned that the 5 friends are witnesses to this, they can confirm that the player I reported did indeed sexually harass 2 minors on Roblox. I also mentioned that it didn't seem like said player had faced any penalties for this, as he was online in a game everyday for the 2 weeks that I waited for moderation to respond. The moderator replied that they took the appropriate action, and that sometimes people will get let off with a warning. They also said that even though I wanted the user off the platform (which I did not say, nor imply.), moderation has handled it accordingly.
Maybe a month after this incident, I was playing a game alone and came across a player being racist and using the n-word along with other racial slurs at any players that did not have an avatar with light skin. Upon telling him that what he was doing wrong, he also called me a "disgrace to white people." (I'm not white either, my avatar just has light skin.) I reported this user as well, multiple times in-game, as did most of the people on the server. Afterwards I also reported his profile and submitted a ticket. Moderation never got back to me, and the player never received any penalties.
Why does any of this matter? I know I'm not the only person that this has happened to. I've read countless stories of pedophiles, racists, misogynists, and homophobes never being held accountable by moderation. I've also read countless stories of people getting their accounts terminated because moderation couldn't be bothered to make sure they were terminating the right user. It does not at all seem like moderation has their priorities straight. More importantly, it does not seem like Roblox has their priorities straight, which brings me to what I'd like to ask:
How is it that a 4 billion dollar company with 830 employees can't afford to up their system of moderating content and users for impressionable young children?
I don't mean this in any kind of rude tone either, I genuinely mean this. I've read posts that say the reason for low quality moderation is that the moderation team is small, and with so much content and so many emails per day, it wouldn't make sense to spend more than a few seconds on each person. If quantity is the issue, could they not hire more moderators? I've also read that moderation is not good because it is outsourced to other countries, making it near impossible to ensure quality. So if that's the issue, could they not A) hire people closer to Roblox or B) engineer some form of quality control within moderation? Upon dividing 2019's total revenue - significantly lower than 2020's revenue - and subtracting 50 Million dollars from it ('Cause I assume running Roblox is expensive, and having done no research on what it costs in server space and real estate, I wanted to play it safe and aim high. If someone knows roughly how much it costs I'd love to know.) Among 830, the amount of employees, I got a yearly income of hundreds of thousands of dollars. And this is assuming everyone is paid equally, which they are not.
What's happening to all the money left over after deducting labor and real estate cost, both physically and digitally? In 2020, Roblox broke their previous record and is now worth over 4 billion dollars. Could an amount of money not be put aside to ensure that small children don't have to face pedophiles, racists, misogynists, homophobes, ableists, ect.? If I were running a company targeted at children, I'd want to ensure that all of my users were given a fair and just system of rules and penalties, to avoid people like MisterObvious, or any of the people I mentioned in my experiences above. I'd also want to make sure that content approval was fair so that said children would feel motivated and welcome to upload content to create games of their own. But then again, I'm not a 4 Billion Dollar Company. Like many companies worth lots of money, is profit their main priority?
If anyone has any knowledge that could be used to answer any of these questions, or even to ask questions, it would be really awesome if you'd share with us. Roblox never seems to acknowledge their moderation and its flaws, and it seems we as a community need to answer these questions on our own. If you wanna share your own experiences with moderation, that could also be helpful.
Thank you for your time, and have a nice day :)

Some tips and tricks for new and newish players!

Hey all, I normally hang out on the trading subreddit but I thought I would crosspost(if this is not allowed, i'll take it down sorry!) here. I don't know how many members share the two subreddits. Hope you find this useful!
It's super annoying when people pick you up and mess with you. u/LazyFoxxo says if you become a family member with a friend other people can't pick you up!

Should I upgrade to a Ryzen 3900XT or i9 10850k/10900k for Single PC Streaming?

I currently run a Ryzen 2600 (Stock) with x264, 1664x936 (936p), 6000 Bitrate, Very Fast, High Preset, Lancsoz streaming to Twitch. My GPU is a RX 5700 XT that I just recently bought 6 months ago.
Currently my issue is that the big performance drop off is making me frustrated. I wish to push higher quality streams while keeping mostly smooth FPS. Now do not laugh at me, but this streaming setup is even struggling with ROBLOX. While streaming I can't even run several games on ROBLOX without dipping down to 30-50 FPS, when off stream I can run it smoothly. I can't even imagine a game that is actually CPU intensive and applies load, who knows my PC might explode. Obviously any of these upgrades will surpass my expectations and obviously allow me to stream ROBLOX fine. The real reason why I'm looking for this upgrade is because of expanding my options for games to stream. I simply cannot stream another game that is actually intensive (ex. Hitman 2, Watch Dogs, GTA 5) without making my FPS unplayable when streaming. Obviously there are ways to solve this such as lowering the quality but I would prefer to push a higher quality as I cannot look at a blocky 720p stream. I've attempted to try the H264 AMD Encoder on my 5700XT and the quality is significantly worse than x264 encoding.
I had previously resulted in a few options that can dampen/fix this issue.
- Dual System Setup using NDI (Was a good idea, but it's inconvenient to control multiple systems at the same time so this would be the last resort.)
- Dual System with a Capture Card (I run a 144hz monitor and in order for a capture card to run 144hz Output it'll be quite expensive. I'm trying to spend the least amount of money possible and buying an expensive capture card with a second system wouldn't be the most reasonable option.)
- Upgrading my current CPU to a Ryzen 3900XT using x264 (My current motherboard is already flashed to support Zen 2 CPU's, 3900XT is the same price as the 3900x at my local store)
- Selling my current CPU/Motherboard, getting a i9 10850k/10900k with a LGA1200 Board streaming off x264
- Selling my entire system and buy this custom prebuilt from my local parts store (Instead of streaming off x264, I would stream off the NVENC Encoder provided from the RTX 3070) https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=1446_1448&item_id=187602
The problem with the RTX 3070 Custom Prebuilt is that since my location is in complete lockdown I can't sell my current system. Going with this option will be the MOST expensive route, retailing at $2099 CAD. I don't even know how much my current system would sell since the used market is full of scalpers at the moment. I just recently bought the 5700XT too, dropped lots of cash for a 2 year warranty. The store that sells this computer labels all items to be FINAL SALE. If I were to go this route I need to be 100% sure with no regrets. Besides, looking at the images it seems to be that they cheaped out on a few items (PSU, Motherboard).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are your thoughts on this? I wish to stream at 1080p while also keeping decent smooth framerates. Would love for some responses as I've been thinking about this for quite a while now.
(If anyone needs my current specs)

My Personal Experiences with the new update (Cash Car, C4, Season Pass)

Season Pass:
Honestly I'm not a huge fan of season pass. It encourages commitment which is not a thing I'm looking for in a Roblox game and especially not Jailbreak. I usually play for a quick fun experience of killing cops or taking revenge on someone who annoys me so grinding out daily missions is not my favorite thing. I really appreciate the variety and I'm pretty sure other people like the feature.

C4:
Drake Meme be like Missiles No, C4 YES. Missiles have fire and more damage, but C4 has remote detonation and can eject I think? Also its better method of punishing criminals (on same team) who slightly annoy you. Did they steal your car? Did they punch you? Did they even breathe on you? Well strap a C4 to them while they're leaving bank or jstore obby and they dead (it ragdolls them into laser for gg).
The most evil thing I did in jailbreak is strap a c4 to this kid whose brother was teaching him to play jailbreak. I killed the kid in jstore and the brother got mad at the kid for dying like a noob (the kid was a noob and thought that he lagged to death). I've used C4 in bank just for the giggles.

Armored Car:

When I said C4 encourages teamkilling, its literally a guppy compared the shark of betrayal that is Bank Truck robbery. What were Asimo and Badcc thinking when they made a robbery that gave more money for less people robbing. The most I've actually robbed from it was 2.9k which is good but the time I was the only person in the car (then a cop arrested me) I got up to 4.4k (standing inside the car).
Armored Car itself is OP for camping bank since you can sit there and no one can so much as touch you (explosives damage but not a lot and it costs more than robbing the bank drops)
Its a bit hard to start tbh (a lot of servers I hop on, the car is ready but no one comes and drives)
With a good team its fairly easy to "survive" and deliver the car or sabotage it depending on which team.
But on the team killing aspect, I've heard a lot about using c4/missiles to wipe each other and get more money.
On the other hand, greed can kill since the truck itself is small and leaves you a sitting duck ESPECIALLY if you're the only one collecting money and trying to collect as much money as you possibly can since a group of cops/crims can arrest/kill you (cops can simply shoot a tase inside since theres not much space to jump or dodge). Even if you kill the cops before you rob, they will likely respawn at prison base and since the car is driven to donut/gun shop, they will quickly return (again, if you're going for optimal cash)

I'm probably going to make a separate post to talk about the armored car and "game theory"/what is optimal way to rob it.

A letter to the Developers

My Take, My Experience: By MiiPeachMilk
I've been debating on whether to make this post or not for a long time now. When I joined the sub it was out of a need to make a bigger name for myself because I'm working on a youtube channel revolved around story-making around RH. However, now I realize that even though my voice is tiny and mostly unheard of, I need to use whatever traction it is that I do have to try to spread this message widely. I've decided that keeping silent and only complaining about certain instances wasn't enough. I would be a bystander to the pain and hurt of others and I refuse to keep doing that. I'm also writing this for myself, because of horribly painful instances I went through as a player when I was much younger than I am now.
I love this game. I seriously adore this game. Three years ago I stumbled upon a princess dress-up game by chance. It reminded me of Winx club and for the first time ever, I got to truly feel like a magical princess. Thanks to the tools allowed to us freely, I was able to explore my gender and was able to experiment with my identity. I was able to make healthy friendships for once and for that I was and am so grateful. I'm so thankful for all of the darling memories. For the time I was a magical princess in Hogwarts. For the time in which I finally got to be the prince. Or when I burst into tears when we learned our Lizzy had gone off to the stars.
We were there, many of us were there for all of it. Yet here we are now. None of my old friends don't play anymore due to severe bullying. The festering toxicity that goes by completely unaddressed by the developers is unacceptable. Their disregard towards talking about the amount of mentally ill children that express their concerns openly to other children who know nothing about how to help should be something the devs should have at least attempted to help with long ago. And for a long time, I excused their failures by saying: They can't control what the players say or do though and they can't help everyone either way. I can't find all of the solutions alone and that's why I'm asking for anyone reading this to post about instances in which you were bullied, harassed, or hurt on Royale High.
Except they CAN and they SHOULD. There are games on Roblox that are specifically made to lend a helping friendly ear to people who may need some form of non-professional counseling. Look, in the real world, there are taxpayers. Taxes go towards keeping the community safe and steady depending on the social class of the neighborhood (real life is horribly unfair) but let's apply those same rules to RH. I have spent an insane amount of money on this game, just as I'm sure many of you also have. My money is split between Roblox and Royale High to their own discretions. Roblox has plenty of tools to protect the children that play it but even then they fail. However, Royale High only has RH to think about, only RH to protect. It's still millions of players but it's do-able. My money should be going towards protecting the little kids I see on the game being bullied mercilessly by other children who are clearly abused at home. My money should be going towards protecting the young LGBTQ members of my community from being called horrible slurs by others. My money should be going towards protecting POC players that are harassed for their SKIN COLOR. My money should be spent on bettering the player experience of Royale High for EVERYONE!! Not being spent on better streaming equipment for your Twitch channels.
Perhaps I'm being too bold here. Perhaps I'm being unreasonably strict. Except I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!! And this is why:
TW MENTIONS OF RACISM, HOMOPHOBIA, AND PREDATORS
I have been called a monkey. I have been called a f*ggot and told I will burn in hell for all eternity. I have been made fun of for being vulnerable and for wanting to wear PINK. I have been told to go k*ll myself and that nobody loves me for being queer. I have been s**ually harassed by other players. Players that were clearly older than me. Players that had clearly succeeded beforehand with someone else.
I've witnessed little kids be almost groomed by a predator pretending to be a child. The only reason I was able to look through it is that I was severely abused for years. I realized that I too was once groomed and abused on RH by a ped*phile. I hadn't realized it until now because I was so numb to abuse and that I didn't recognize warning signs. It hurts. This hurts me. This hurts US.
I've been fetishized for being a gender-non-conforming person by random teenagers and I have all but given up on roleplaying in the school anymore. Whenever a person expresses discontent or sadness near me I always aim to help. Whenever someone is being bullied I step in. But I'm just one person. Do you know how much my heart breaks when I hear a child like me telling me they want to d*e and that their only release is RH where they can't be abused but lately they don't even have that? What godforsaken world do we exist in where we can't even run towards pixels to comfort us? I can't protect these children, I can't even protect myself yet. Royale High is my only release from the horrible life I'm forced to live through. I've lost my friends. I've even lost the will to complete building my channel.
Hours upon hours of writing stories, building scripts, finding the perfect lighting. Drawing my icons, thinking about my big dreams. Looking up to the RH influencers and wondering if I could ever be a part of the game I loved so much. But now, I realize that their silence, or more so their ignorance on what we are going through is too loud. Too painfully visible and nonchalant. I'm a kid, I shouldn't be lecturing professional scripters and 3D modelers and directors and influencers about how to behave, how to help, and what to change. I'm not a part of any industry or any collective or any intellectual power. But I'm Gen Z and we are here to change the game and I am here to DEMAND that you protect my fellow players. My fellow classmates. Down to every Alex/Alpha/Bi player to every HH19 wearing player. Treat us all with equal respect and regard. INCLUDE US in your conversations. PLAY WITH US for God's sake. PROTECT US! I am paying for your bread. LISTEN TO ME I BEG OF YOU!!!

Possible Solutions

I understand that no actual counseling can be provided but noticed that the Adopt Me team took their time towards creating an anti-scam tutorial that is enforced in order to trade. Since then, the scamming rate has gone down SIGNIFICANTLY!!! The community is now aware of scamming techniques and is helping each other out in that regard even if they are still bullying one another.
Royale High could have a small but enforced tutorial-like seminar in which players have to answer questions before they join the game. Teaching about bullying, why not to do it, how to stop it. Talking about depression and that they can talk to a trusted adult whenever it is they feel safe enough to do it. Teaching young kids about how to behave during trades or in an RP setting. Teaching them to stand up for one another when someone does get out of line and not be silent bystanders!!! Teach them about predators and give them a visible reporting line to report potential ped*philes so that they can't keep visibly hurting anyone. LOOK AT OUR REPORTS FOR ONCE!!! Yeah sure I get it that you need to keep making money through sets but could you, y'know, stop letting 8-year-old's be scarred for life? This could be so simple and even though it will not entirely eliminate the growing toxic waste it's becoming, you will have at least tried. Which is more than you have mustered up to until this point.
Make stricter policies surrounding mentions of lewd things from journals and usernames. If you have the time to censor Emily then censor Depression and Suicide from RP names for obvious reasons. Become more involved with the community that you serve. You can talk about how RH was your ambitious dream and through hard work, you made it to where you are now but, what is your dream if not fueled by our interest and our economic relief we could afford you? We are the running engine of RH, the purpose of RH. Our interest in your pretty dresses and lovely graphics and our imaginations are the heart of your dream and you're ignoring it. I'm specifically talking to you now Barbara. I know you won't see this for whatever reasons their may be. But I'm truly hoping this will get to your ears.
I may not know much but I do know this. The players with the money are beginning to grow tired. I've seen many of them become bitter as well and purposeless. Many have left and perhaps you're not feeling the economic plunge quite yet in fact maybe you're getting even more out of this now but, don't let that blind you. We are growing up. We are distancing ourselves. I don't even know if my dream is worth it anymore honestly. Leah Ashe can easily move on to more profitable and more popular games whenever she pleases just like the other YouTubers. Who will promote RH then? The community you've abandoned?
Think about that. Fix this, fix it NOW.

My note to my classmates

Don't be a part of the problem. The bullying needs to end here. Stop with the mochi madness, I was quickly falling down that dark hole as well because yeah they're annoying but they seriously don't know any better. Stop being a bystander. Stop being a perpetrator. Yeah I laughed at the Alpha Wolves too and yes I laugh at cringe things and now I need to choose to stop because I'm not doing the community any favors. I'm so sorry for participating in those posts or for saying snarky comments. I'm no better than any of you. You're my classmates, my friends, my fellow dreamers. My halos and my parasol and my anything else doesn't make me more dedicated or prettier or better. It all just boils down to pixels. What really matters is the human experience that gives those pixels life and meaning. We are that human experience, we are the life that drives this game forward!
We need to protect one another. We need to take care of one another even when other's don't do it for us. Because maybe, just maybe, it'll inspire someone else to do the same. Let's take back our game. Let's do it, even if the devs don't care about us. Let's do it, for each other. let's

A Complete (ish) Review of Phantom Forces. (If you work for Stylis, PLEASE read this, I really want the devs to see this!)

Edit: I wasn't expecting this to get much attention! Thanks everyone who upvoted and gave their opinion in the comments.

Edit 2: Thank you everyone for the feedback and attention you gave this post, it means a lot. Unfortunately Stylis didn't respond and they seem to not give a shit about the subreddit. I'll try posting this in their discord or twitch chat.
I don't plan on making any kind of sequel to this post, since I've covered everything I've observed. If there are any significant changes to the game I might make a post about that.

I've made a few posts about the game/map design of Phantom Forces but I've never made a full review, so here goes. Prepare for a possibly pretty long post.
I'm going to break my review down into a few parts, starting with:

1) Base Mechanics
The mechanics of the game are simple. You have two guns, three grenades, one knife. You can jump, sprint and crouch, vault over low obstacles, and do a high jump to get up bigger ones. The movement speed is pretty fast, even when using the heavier weapons, and no stamina bar means you can jump and sprint as much as you want, however, while sprinting you cannot fire your gun straight and have to wait about half a second before it's raised, and doing a high jump will give a 1 second cooldown before springing again. All that leads me into my second segment:

2) Pacing
In my opinion this is the strongest part of the game. Combat feels fast and dynamic. The fast run speed and vaults make moving around the map fast. Combine this with large square hitboxes and guns being able to pierce almost any thin cover and it makes the game feel amazing to play. Unlike other games like GTAV or many COD games, the gameplay almost never devolves into "pop out from behind a wall, shoot, repeat". It's like playing DOOM, always moving, strafing, jumping, and shooting.
The way the movement works is perfect. When vaulting over barriers, your gun comes up to the forwards position, which encourages aggressive pushing since you can stay at full speed while shooting. The high jump is great for getting up larger barriers but it breaks your momentum, which means it's usually used much less (which is a good thing). Sprinting allows you to go fast but leaves you vulnerable since your weapon is down (except with a melee, which again encourages aggressive action). This prevents fights from devolving into "you can't hit me na na na na na".

3) Graphics/Art style
The graphics are, well, bad. However the devs have used this to their advantage. By using a simple colour palette of greens and greys, The dark black of the player models stand out well, encouraging aggressive play and getting up and moving around to avoid fire instead of hiding. The maps themselves are simple and blocky, but believable. Locations like a middle eastern village, an eastern european factory and construction sites are all believable and match the modern warfare aesthetic of Phantom Forces.

4) Weapons
The selection is just amazing for a game with half a dozen devs. Every gun in the game feels unique in some way, and are all very well balanced. People complain about the meta a lot but compared to many AAA games Phantom Forces is amazingly balanced. Furthermore, the customization is insane! Conversions, a billion sights, barrel stuff, ammo, skins, there's so much stuff to do with a gun!
I really don't have the time nor patience to review every gun, but I'll review the gun classes.

Assault rifles: The default guns. Middle of the road in all aspects. Good run speed, firerate, damage, range falloff, reload times. Great for any map and almost any situation.
Battle rifles: Heavier assault rifles. Lower ammo capacity, longer reload times, but high damage with solid firerate.
Carbines: Lighter assault rifles. These have probably the fastest paced gameplay out of any gun class. They do the same thing as AR's with a bit more vertical recoil and lower damage. Not used much but still fun.
Shotguns: Low firerate, high damage hard hitters. Work best at close to mid (slugs just make them worse snipers so they're not really good at long range). Some call them OP but they're easy to counter by keeping some kind of barrier between you and the enemy. Movement speed ranges from average to fast, with low capacity however the slow firerate and 1 shot ability means you won't find yourself running out of ammo too often.
PDW's: Light, average reload, low recoil, mid cap mags. Pretty much the same as carbines in most respects, aside from some high damage guns like the tommy gun or grease gun. Almost all PDW's have great damage up close but fall off quickly at range. This makes them great for up-close and personal combat, and makes them great at stringing together multiple kills then retreating to reload.
DMR's: Low to mid firerate semi automatics perfect for mid to long range, with damage ranging from a three shot kill to a one shot to the head. Excellent for keeping enemies pinned down and shooting through barriers. Some are slow and bulky like the Scar-SSR, while others handle as well as carbines like the MK11. Great for anyone who loves semi automatics.
LMG's: Heavy, high capacity, with medium damage and great penetration (haha). Perfect for planting down in a spot, ripping through some enemies, then repositioning. somewhat weak against snipers due to the giant beacon that points right to you whenever you shoot, and the slow run speed which lets them line up shots better, but still as solid pick for taking out large groups and laying down sustained fire.
Sniper Rifles: Long range, lowest firerates, and highest damage. Great at taking down single enemies but struggle when up against groups, with poor run speed. Quite fun but unfortunately Stylis is making them increasingly unviable due to their map design.

Speaking of that, let's get to the part I know you've all been dreading if you've read my other posts:

5) Map Design
Oh boy. There's a lot to get into here.
Here is a post about the flaws of Stylis's map design, I highly suggest reading it before reading this next section.

The older maps in Phantom Forces are amazing. They have a perfect mix of verticality, cover, open areas, and occasional (but avoidable) choke points. For example, Highway Lot. This map has huge open sniping areas like the highway and the rooftops, paired with very tight corridors and more mid range areas like the parking garages. In any of these maps you have to constantly be moving through them, going between open high-visibility areas like rooftops to get kills and more covered areas to avoid getting shot.
The capture points in the King of the Hill and Flare Domination gamemodes are placed in areas where there is always multiple exits and/or shooting positions that look over them so camping them is very hard. Combine this with grenades and you have a fun dynamic experience that is (mostly) camper free (and as I have noted before, the more you're moving in Phantom Forces, the more fun you're having).
Now, problems begin to arise when there is no balance of these four main elements. For example, look at Bazaar or Rig. On these maps shotguns reign supreme since everyone is forced into tiny areas, with no option to take more open areas and snipe. This leads to guns like the AA-12 being incredibly OP despite them having balanced stats, because the one thing that balances them, which in the AA-12's case is it's insane spread, isn't a problem due to the map being so small.
The lack of verticality in maps like Farmyard or Bazaar is infuriating. The battles end up feeling less and less dynamic, since you aren't moving around the map nearly as much. Instead of feeling like a battle it just ends up feeling like running through a maze where everyone has a gun and wants to kill each other. It's not so much the size of the map that makes sniping hard and close range weapons OP, since snipers are very usable on crane site which is a mid sized map, but more the lack of vantage points snipers can use. Even Industry, probably the only new map that fits Phantom Forces's gameplay style, had no good exposed vantage points for long range players to use.
I think a lot of this lack of long range on maps comes from Mirage. Quite a large portion of the playerbase HATES Mirage, and I fully understand why. but it's NOT because of the verticality.
In fact, the verticality is the best part of mirage. It's incredibly fun to run up and down between floors, switching shooting positions and moving quick, all while watching your back in case some flankers started storming the building. The main issue with Mirage is that it was too spread out. Players who wanted to use even good mid-long range guns like battle rifles would have trouble using them due to the extreme ranges. The huge, wide streets between the buildings became killing grounds, and the buildings on the edge of the map were far too large and had sight lines that were far too good, leading to a lot of deaths that felt out of the player's control. This is INFURIATING game design.
Furthermore, the buildings themselves were a few floors too tall, leading to pretty much the entire bottom 2-3 floors of the buildings being unused. the extra floors just made it longer to get into the action. If the buildings were closer, shorter, and there were a few less of them, this would probably be one of the communities favourite maps.
My theory is that when the devs saw the massive backlash towards mirage, they assumed that meant the community didn't like long range maps and verticality (which we absolutely do like them!) and proceeded to make snipers more or less obsolete on the new maps.

6) Extra Content
The case/key system is actually pretty good. You get cases and keys from logging in and winning matches, or buying them with the in game credits (or your mom's credit card). You get credits from ranking up and selling skins. This is actually well balanced so that you can unlock guns and attachments faster if you want to, so if you really want that one gun you can get it and don't have to grind for hours or pay IRL money.
However, there are WAY too many case and key varieties in game right now. I agree with adding new skins but there are so many case types that it's pretty much impossible for new players to get matching sets. I know you guys have to make money but it's really not helping your player retention when people can't even make their gun look nice without seeing "you don't have any keys [purchase more]"
Furthermore, the lack of new content for low rank players isn't helping. What reason do new players to the game have to log in? some old guns that have been in the game since the dawn of time? It's not the main cause of dwindling player numbers but it's certainly part of the issue.
No, the main reason I believe Phantom Forces is becoming less and less popular is the changing demographics of roblox. They are appealing more and more to younger and younger children, and Phantom Forces is more of a 11-14 ish age range game. However, As that younger roblox demographic ages we might see a large resurgence to the game.

7) Final thoughts
(No, this isn't a TLDR read the post you lazy bum)
Overall, this game is incredible for such a small dev team working with what I've heard is a janky at best, broken at worst platform. By hyper-focusing on elements like smooth and fast movement and weapon selection and customization Stylis has made a game that is thoroughly entertaining to play. Features like team balancing and the old spawn algorithm worked amazingly well, with minimal bugs (Yes, I said old. Fuck the new system). Weapon animations are excellent, sound design is passable at worst and punchy and satisfying at best, the meta is well balanced and most of the maps are well designed.
So yeah, that's about it :D

Yeah I told you it would be a long post. I apologize if it got kinda incoherent and ranty at the end there.
I really want the devs to see this. I love Phantom Forces, it's my favourite game in the world. I have so many memories playing this game, and I want to see it do well. Again, if anyone has any way of contacting Stylis and sending them this it would be very much appreciated.

Roblox IPO: 5 things to know about the tween-centric gaming platform

Roblox Corp. is planning an initial public offering amid strong momentum as millions of tweens and teenagers are glued to their mobile devices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The San Mateo, Calif.-based gaming platform features a variety of “3-D digital worlds” that are built by users and developers, providing virtual communities where users can play with friends. Roblox RBLX acknowledged in its official paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it is experiencing a huge boost from users isolated during shelter-in-place policies related to coronavirus, but seeks to appeal to a wider, and older, audience to continue growing when things go back to “normal.”
Roblox originally filed for an IPO on Nov. 19, after disclosing a month before that it was beginning the process. Roblox said in the original filing that it sought to raise up to $1 billion; this figure is typically a placeholder that will be updated in later filings, but suggests a larger fundraising goal than the typical large IPO, which uses a $100 million target.
Roblox expects to trade under the ticker “RBLX” on the New York Stock Exchange. There are six banks underwriting the deal, led by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and J.P. Morgan. 2020 has been a good year for IPOs with the Renaissance IPO ETF IPO up 94% for the year to date, compared with a 12% gain in the S&P 500 index SPX , and a 35% rise in the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index COMP .
Here are five things to know about Roblox as it becomes a public company.
  1. If you don’t have tweens, you’ve probably never heard of it
If you haven’t heard of Roblox, you probably haven’t been around a pre-teen much in recent years. The company said that more than half of its 31.1 million daily users are younger than 13 years old. Back in 2018, the service claimed about 12 million daily users.
Since most online accounts require users to be at least 13, the company has faced criticism for inappropriate content on its service. In the prospectus, Roblox said it uses a human review team to screen content and has reviewed more than 68 million “assets” in the first nine months, and has “had a human respond” to more than 9 million customer inquiries within 10 minutes on average. The company hopes to appeal to older users and to retain current users as they grow up.
“We ultimately aim to be a brand that serves all ages,” the company said in its SEC filing. “An early sign of what is possible: our 17 to 24-year-old user age group grew faster than our core under 13 age group in the nine months ended September 30, 2020.”
  1. COVID-19 generated a huge boost of traffic
When the pandemic hit, Roblox growth exploded as tweens and others who were sheltering in place flocked to the online community. The number of daily users surged 82% over the past 12 months and the average user was on the service for more than two-and-a-half hours a day.
“We have experienced rapid growth … given our users have been online more as a result of global COVID-19 shelter-in-place policies,” the company said.
In the first nine months of 2020, Roblox said DAUs, or daily average users, grew to 31.1 million from 17.1 million in the same period during 2019. Year-over-year, Roblox reported 17.6 million DAUs in 2019, compared with 12 million in 2018.
Similarly, total hours spent on Roblox more than doubled to 22.2 billion in the first nine months of 2020, compared with 10 billion in the same period in 2019. Year-over-year, users spent 13.7 billion hours on Roblox in 2019, versus 9.4 billion in 2018.
  1. Its revenue is derived from the model that has Epic Games fighting Apple
Roblox makes money by using a virtual currency called “Robux” that users buy to upgrade avatar and make purchases, but that developers also use within the platform. That means Roblox pays a lot of money to third-party distributors like Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc. at a time when those practices are being disputed by others.
Back in August, the popular videogame “Fortnite,” made by Epic Games, was banned from Apple’s AAPL App Store and Alphabet’s GOOG GOOGL Google Play stores because Epic tried to work around the 30% cuts the companies were getting from in-game purchases, and loudly disputed the practice.
Roblox said it also pays 30% of its one-time purchases to both Apple and Google when they are made on the respective stores. The company said for the first nine months of 2020, 34% of its revenue came from Apple store purchases and 18% from Google store purchases. That’s compared with 30% of revenue from Apple store purchases and 18% from Google store purchases in 2019.
The company said its bookings surged 171% to $1.24 billion in the first nine months of 2020, compared with $458 million in the same period in 2019. From 2018 to 2019, bookings grew 39%. If defines bookings as “sales of our virtual currency which we record as deferred revenue and then recognize that revenue over the estimated average lifetime of a paying user.”
Booking per DAU rose to $39.93 in the first nine months of 2020 from $26.75 in the year-earlier period.
In a nod to COVID-19’s part in the surge, the company said: “We do not expect these activity levels to be sustained, and in future periods we expect growth rates for our revenue to decline.”
  1. As revenue has soared, losses have widened
While Roblox reported a 68% surge in revenue for the first nine months of 2020, losses for the period more than quadrupled.
Roblox reported revenue of $588.7 million and a loss of $203.2 million in the period, compared with $349.9 million in revenue and a loss of $46.3 million for the first nine months of 2019. Roblox reported revenue of$488.2 million and a narrower loss of $86 million in 2019, compared with revenue of $312.8 million and a loss of $97.2 million in 2018.
The biggest culprits in 2020’s widening loss were payments to content developers and administration fees connected with the run up to the IPO.
“Developer exchange fees track closely with our overall bookings performance as more users on the platform and Robux purchased by our users drives more Robux earned by developers and creators,” the company said in its filing.
Those fees soared 190% to $209.2 million in the first nine months of 2020 compared with the same period a year ago.
In the same period, general and administrative fees soared 125% to $64.9 million. While $27.7 million of that increase was due to higher personnel costs including stock-based compensation expenses, the company also cited “an increase in headcount in our finance, accounting, people, IT and legal functions associated with our anticipated public offering.”
  1. Early investors get a big upper hand
The IPO is for Class A shares, which get one vote per share, as opposed to Class B shares that get 20 votes per share and are convertible to Class A shares.
Those Class B shares belong mostly to early investors, the first of which were Altos Ventures and First Round Capital. Altos has a 23.9% stake in the company with 114.3 million shares and First Round has a 7% stake with 33.6 million shares.
Later investors include Meritech Capital Partners and Index Ventures. Meritech owns an 11.6% stake at 55.3 million shares, while Index has an 11.1% stake at 53.1 million shares.
Tiger Global Management, which entered the picture in 2018, has an 8.2% stake at 39.3 million shares.
Earlier in the year, Andreessen Horowitz led a $150 million investment round in the company but doesn’t even break into the list of “greater than 5%” stockholders.

First time builder; anxious about my part selection and would like some help

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
Sorry this is wordy! I'm seriously grateful for any feedback, thank you so much for your help!

[Rant] So who really is behind 'Glorious Games Group'/Stardoll AB, the company that owns Stardoll?

(TL;DR below)
Assuming that everyone on this subreddit is here for the sake of nostalgia,
Stardoll was really active during the mid/late-2000's to early-2010's. I can't personally speak about the site during the 2000's as I first joined in 2011, but I've seen and heard a lot of accounts of people being relatively entertained by what the site had to offer before. But as of now, Stardoll is dead.
Users? — Their user count has stagnated— 400 million+ members, to be exact, but how much of that count includes inactive or banned accounts is beyond me. I think they're keeping that number up on the front page to give the illusion that many people are still playing this. That '450,000,000+' count probably represents how many accounts were ever made in Stardoll's history, instead.
Edit #1: This article (in Swedish) from 2016 says that Stardoll has, at the time of publication, 8 million active users. I'm pretty sure it's fallen even lower as of 2021, but it doesn't matter because Stardoll just lied lmao.
Inactivity/Outdated-ness — If you start navigating through tabs such as 'Featured Videos', 'Chat & Friends', 'Contents', etc., you can see that activity there has also stopped. There aren't really contests to speak of (besides Miss Stardoll World, which is more of a popularity/wealth contest than anything...). The clubs are over a decade old and mostly run by inactive users. Unless you actually have friends on Stardoll, the parties are basically used to advertise whatever the host is doing/selling. The videos are usually just (outdated) tutorials or content that I doubt cater to the current demographic of the site. Like everything else— the mini-games, dress-ups, what have you. All outdated and irrelevant.
(On a related note, I find it weird they've been promoting those recap videos by Brittany. I don't have anything against her BTW. And yes, those videos are about Stardoll, but the fact that the site is pretty much relying on someone who doesn't even officially work for Stardoll to promote their content is astoundingly terrible.)
Bad UI/Design — And can we talk about the UI? It's stayed exactly the same. I think I've changed more than Stardoll did, and all I've done is trim the ends of my hair. For a site that tries to seem like they're on top of current trends, they've probably hit a wall and can't seem to get anywhere beyond 2012. I feel like I'm on a site for a poor start-up company from 2006 that adopted the 'flat, non-bubbly' aesthetic of the early/mid-2010's.
The StarPlaza and StarBazaar's search filters are also a joke. And regarding the StarBazaar, especially— if they purposefully created the search filters like that to evoke the feeling of finding 'unexpected grails', then it backfired. It's absolutely dreadful.
I also don't expect any of the clothing or dolls to get a significant makeover. They could claim that changing the design/'info.' for the clothing could corrupt data (e.g. in the game The Sims 2, an object could become corrupted if you changed it in anyway while it was being interacted with), would be too time-consuming to do, or whatever. While people have creatively circumvented this issue by using StarDesign, we shouldn't have to rely on that.
But in order to get what people create in StarDesign, we need StarDollars, which are rarely given for free to 'normal' users anyway.
Memberships... — So, uh, I remember when you could buy a year-long membership. And that in order to get Royalty status, the only way was to have that membership for a year. Yeah, that's gone.
I will admit that it was pretty clever of them to offer 'Instant Royalty' for $100 USD, knowing that some users will gladly eat that up if it means they get to be 'rich and popular' on a site with virtual currency and virtual dolls. It definitely takes away the novelty of paying for an entire year to get awarded Royalty status, which is stupid, but unfortunately they seem to know this aspect of a portion of their users. Again, popularity contest!
The price also increased for monthly memberships, but I'm not really going to focus on that. What I will focus on is this question: Who have we been paying $7 USD a month to?
Where does this money go?
Who is 'Glorious Games Group'/Stardoll AB? Now, I got really curious about this after I started playing again in mid-2020 for nostalgia. So naturally, I did a bit of digging because none of this information is on the site or their social media (as if they ever updated that anyway).
For those who don't know, Stardoll AB— the company that created Stardoll— had a legal name change around 2016-2017 to Glorious Games Group. Companies do this all time if their 'mission' pivots to something else and want their company name to reflect that, so I didn't think much about it. But then I started to wonder where they're located.
Using the game Roblox as another example, their 'About Us' section is very straightforward. Though it leads me to a separate (corporate) website, they are transparent about who they are as a company, what they do currently and aspire to do. What particularly stood out to me was that they actually identified their 'top' people (i.e. CEO, CFO, CTO, VPs of Marketing and Product, etc.) and even had little biographies about them.
As for the Glorious Games Group site? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Who's their CEO? No idea. CFO? No idea. VPs? Anyone? At the very top the site just links to Stardoll. The rest just spews some vague information about what their purpose is ("providing creative outlets blah blah...")— something we could've easily inferred from the fact that they own a fashion game. Why can't they just be transparent about information like this? If they supposedly have nothing to hide, then why obscure it? It just seems like a bit of a red flag.
Edit #2: Apparently, the CEO as of 2016 is Thomas Lindgren, according to Wikipedia. They literally could've put this on the website, but maybe he doesn't want his name associated with this heap of flaming trash lol.
And where is this company even from? I had to look in an online corporate business database to find this information. They're supposedly located in Stockholm, Sweden, but they're not some huge building with a campus or anything. Rent may be expensive in Stockholm, IDK. How much they're earning from membership/StarDollar payments, IDK either. But surely it must be enough for them to even bother letting the site's domain stay live. If they weren't making money off of Stardoll's users anymore, I'm certain they would've shut down the domain as soon as they saw their revenue fall.
In conclusion, all of this just seems very strange to me. I mean, besides the fact that DuckDuckGo rates the Stardoll site a solid C+ for privacy protection, which is already questionable. But it's not like Stardoll is the Everest of privacy-respecting websites anyway.
The recent release of the Stardoll Launcher was the last straw, so I just had to express what I've been thinking about the site overall for these past few months. I've read about some people's anti-virus programs being alerted of the installation. Mac OS/Win 32/Chromebook/Linux support is nowhere to be found. You get an ugly blue blazer as your gift for downloading this sad excuse of a Launcher.
Which, by the way, isn't even gifted correctly. I literally got it the day that the Launcher was released— before the first week of January like they claimed. So they couldn't even execute that properly.
But what I find most disrespectful about this whole ordeal is that they just expected users not to care. So if we're into fashion, we won't care about the poor functionality of the site? Of the lack of transparency? Do they think all of their users are shallow chumps?
TL;DR: Stardoll is bad because it's inactive and outdated. The fact that the site owner (Glorious Games Group) won't even reveal who their CEO is is a red flag to me. The Launcher release is disastrous.

Noob bait: An analysis on "Noob games"

Have you ever looked at a game and wondered "Why does this game have this many players after so long without updates?" well, I got the answer, noobs. Noobs are crutches to a lot of poorly made games in my opinion. For some odd reason, noobs are extremely loyal to lots of dumb games. Now the only question is why? Why do these types of players play these games for months without getting bored? Well that's what I've come here to answer, join me as we travel through many genres of noob games as we find out what makes noobs attracted to them, and discover what makes noobs tick.

Chapter 1: Obbies: I thought we would start off with a very well known type of noob game. Obbies typically have bright colors to attract noobs to them. They also have you "running away" from a popular trend or person with decals of it put all over the place. Given that these are kids they will go "oh my god it's Spider Man!" which makes them even more willing to complete these Obbies. Another thing to keep noobs invested is a giant version of whatever thing they are supposed to "running away" from at the end, suspended in the sky, this is simply here to remind the noobs what they are playing the game for, keeping them invested even more. At the end, they have prizes the noobs get for winning, these are usually hats and paths, this makes the noobs feel accomplished. Overall, these Obbies take advantage of these noobs attraction to colors and popular icons to make them feel like they have done something, when really, they just completed a copy and paste obby on roblox. Now onto our next type of "noob games" Tycoons.

Chapter 2: Tycoons: Tycoons are also very well known amongst the roblox community. Once again, you'll see very bright colors and sometimes popular trends or icons. This time however, the game fools the noob by making them feel rich and famous by making them complete a well.. Tycoon. The game makes them build from the ground up by making them watch, or click to make parts fall into a conveyor belt and into a money pad, where they can then take the money to buy more parts and droppers to the build, making them feel like they are slowly running a business empire. The Tycoon at a certain point also supplies them with gears and weapons to kill other players to keep them from getting bored. After the noob finished their Tycoon, they feel rich and powerful, giving them a dopamine boost and making them want to stay longer. In conclusion, Tycoons make noobs feel powerful with bright colors to go with it, making them feel amazing, and making them stay longer. Now, onto the next type, Cart Rides.

Chapter 3: Cart Rides: Cart rides may have slowly died down, but they still have a pretty sizable player base of noobs. Once again, they use bright colors and pop culture icons to lure noobs in. This time, they try to keep the noobs in for as long as possible without a reward. They set up a single track for the noobs to follow in their cart, however, if they go too fast, they fly off the tracks and into the void, but it they go too slow, they increase the time it takes to get to the end by a lot. This leaves the noobs stuck as they only decide to go with trial and error instead of being smart about their speed. There is also the fact that other noobs want to get to the end, so they might fight and sabotage each other to get in the cart. This gets multiplied by 10 when the owners advertise the fact that the winners of the Cart Ride might get admin, making the noobs want to rush even more, leading to more failure. When the noob finally reaches the end, they only get server admin, or no admin at all, just some paths and other distractions, or even teleporting the noob to another game, either way, the noob still plays because of the reward, or from wanting to complete the next game. Overall, these Cart Ride games force noobs in for as long as possible to keep the player count from going down. Now onto our next type, Survival the X the killer games.

Chapter 4: Survival the X the killer games: In these types of noob games, the noobs are put onto a tree house in some grassy plains with a killer there, trying to you know, kill them. Now this killer can be many things, given the X in the title I gave them, mostly pop culture icons and creepypastas. Now the reason I believe noobs play these is confidence, let me explain. You see, noobs aren't all that brave, given that they are mostly little kids, so they never really want to play horror games. But, when presented with a very weak "horror game" they play it, after a bit, they gain confidence because they are playing a horror game, and they're not scared! This boosts their confidence, so they play it more to prove to themselves they aren't scared, boosting their confidence more and more. This makes them feel brave, but only in those types of games. At least, this is how I see it. So in conclusion, Survival the X the killer games boost noobs confidence, making them feel good. This type of noob game goes hand in hand or may cause noobs to go to our next type or noob game, Camping games.

Chapter 5: Camping games: In these noob games the noobs follow a basic story line with increments of horror. This also follows the whole confidence idea I had for Survival the X the killer games. Once again, bright colors and basic art styles are used to keep noobs invested. Now in most cases, most of the noobs die pretty quickly, given they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, even after many attempts, they can never seem to get to the end. This makes the noobs want to play more and win, so they can feel accomplished. Most camping games also have an obby, making the noobs want to finish it like with the Obbies chapter we did. Also, given that most Camping games are very simple and predictable, the noobs feel right at home like they did with the other noob games. There are also characters that the noobs may bond with over time, given how many times they die, making them care for these characters. In conclusion, Camping games take advantage of confidence, completion, and making noobs feel at home to keep them playing. And now, for our final type of noob games, I've saved the best for last, the most popular noob games out there, Simulators!

Chapter 6: The grand daddy, Simulators: Now, Simulators combine almost every aspect of noob games and combines them to make the ultimate noob games. These Simulators have the bright colors and icons of most of the other noob games. They have the slow progression of Tycoons. They have Obbies that the noobs can complete for rewards. They keep the noobs slowly yet surely reaching a certain goal like in Cart Rides. They have the characters noobs might get invested or bond with like in Camping games, though that last part may have been a stretch. I spent a long time there talking about the aspects of Simulators, but now we should actually talk about mechanics of the Simulators. In Simulators, noobs have to do a specific thing with their tool until their backpack is full, then they have to sell whatever they got for coins to buy upgrades for their tool to do they same thing faster, or their backpack to be able to do the same thing for longer. There are also pets they can obtain from pets to give them better stats. Most Simulators also have different worlds where the noobs do the same thing, but better with new gear. Some Simulators also have unique mechanics to them, which is something the other types of noob games never had. In Fishing Simulator, you have to reel in fish by keeping a line in a green space for a set amount of time. In Ghost Simulator, you have hover boards and more unique upgrades you can get to help you on your journey. I could go on and on, but my point is that given the fact Simulators are a bit more complex, it allows them unique mechanics for each game to let noobs feel like they have more of a choice, which is why, along with the whole combining aspects thing, Simulators are still extremely popular. I think I talked enough about these games, now it's time for my final thoughts.

Final Thoughts: In conclusion, I believe that noobs are more or less of a crutch, or meat and bones of some games. I just wanted to let some people know what makes noobs tick, as this has been stuck in my head for a while now, and I just wanted to say it because I don't want this to stay in my head forever.
I you liked this post, then upvote I guess, I don't really care, but I guess it would be nice if a lot of people could see this.
