What Is DiplomacyCraft?

DiplomacyCraft is a server that uses plugins I've developed myself in order to promote strategy and geopolitical competition between players, while also maintaining the "core Minecraft" gameplay and feel. Whether you're a super competitive world conquerer or a casual who just wants to build, there's a place for you.
My inspiration to create this server came from me playing on many different kinds of servers for many, many years, and always finding flaws that limit what multiplayer Minecraft could be. My goal is to take the best of what I've seen, then making it even better by making dozens of revolutionary never-done-before ideas a reality.

Key features:

Nations:

• Can compete against other nations for land and resources
• Have land protection that is strong enough to protect against griefers, allowing you to build cities, but not invincible, allowing for more in-depth and complex geopolitical strategy.
• Are fully customizable and utilizes streamlined GUIs/menus for ease of use. Nation names, classes, class permissions, and chat prefixes can all be customized within a nation to fit whatever theme or hierarchy is desired.
• No arbitrary "daily upkeep" or territory size restrictions that limit gameplay. Nations can be as big as you want as long as you are able to defend it

Completely Revamped Enchantments:

• XP has been removed from the game, as it encourages brainless, boring grinding. It has been replaced by a more advanced, diverse tech tree
• Enchantments are obtained via custom crafting recipes
• Enchantments have higher level caps
• Unbalanced enchantments (such as mending and infinity) and inferior enchantments (such as smite and bane of arthropods) have been removed
• Regular protection only protects against melee attacks, but items can now have all four kinds of protection at once
• New custom items that specialize in specific enchantments (ex: chisels for fortune, saws for silk touch, hunting knives for looting).
• Tools can have their blades sharpened to increase their enchantment level (sharper sword = higher sharpness and sweeping edge, sharper pickaxe = higher efficiency, sharper axe = higher efficiency and sharpness, etc.)
• Mobs spawn with stronger gear with higher enchantments, and will ALWAYS drop it
• Grenades have been added, encouraging the use of blast protection

Lives:

• Dying has an actual consequence other than losing your XP. Unlike factions, PVP isn't the sole answer to everything because life is a limited resource. You must also use other political strategies to settle a conflict. You gain up to 5 lives each day you join, and running out of lives prevents you from joining until the next day begins.

Balanced Economy:

• The economy is diamond-based (aka one of the only items that can't be farmed infinitely and cause hyperinflation).
• Unlike most servers, there is no "selling to the server" at arbitrary prices decided by the server owner. All prices are determined by supply/demand between the other players on the server. As a result, money is actually valuable on this server, and not just a useless number to show who has grinded more / played longer.

Other:

• No donation ranks / pay2win
• No loot crates / vote-crate keys / gambling
• No kits, no warps, no keep inventory, and no set home (If you need somebody to hold your hand, this isn't the server for you)
• Anarchy (As long as you aren't cheating you can play however you wish.)

A dedicated Developer:

• I am constantly working on the server in order to improve it for the benefit of the players.
• I have TONS of ideas that I want to add in the future, and I am always listening to the community.
• I plan on keeping this server running for as long as I live.

It's mostly impossible to host a private server without help of lite devs

• Lite doesn't have any sort of mechanism to connect to user defined servers like on minecraft,cod,etc.Once you log in you're redirected/logged into your regional server.So unless they implement this option along with a control panel or something you'll need access to the game source codes or at least the server codes within the game.
• And most of the times, code is a mix of things.
• There's a limit to what you can do with the partially decrypted codes by certain communities and individuals who make hacks.Plus you can get a hefty fine from pubg corp.

Can't some one make a mod or fix the current issues ?

• You can't implement fixes without having access to the source code.(Unreal engine needs source code in order to do edits)
• And since we don't know how and if they check the game integrity it possible that doing mods might get you banned or being unable to connect to the servers.

Assuming source code is available,

• It'll need a whole team (network engineers,vfx artists or animators,coders,etc) to implement fixes (assuming they have source code access),etc. Which would need to be funded specially since they'll have to do this full time if it's to have the desired effect on lite.
• It would need decent pcs for coders,animation artists,etc.Which would again need funds.
• There's gonna be a big learning curves for unreal engine,game server hosting,etc.

So getting the source code means private servers are a go ?
Not exactly. Unless you have an unlimited connection with a good CPU (more cores and threads the better),at least 32 GB or 64 GB (maybe even a gpu ,it depends on the game and how the server is configured,off loading stuff to gpus is not uncommon though) that you don't mind turning into a server and running 24/7 you'll need to pay for servers.

• Servers aren't cheap.To host a game like lite with 100 players needs a decent servers with good bandwidth,etc. Plus you have to consider server protection.
• It'll need several servers at least one for each region to keep decent ping if nothing else.And we don't have any publicly available trustworthy lite player base stats,only devs and corp has that info.Unless someone has an internal source (in corp or amazon) one would either have to goes hacking lite servers one by one or hacking the corp to gather that info.So we there's no way to really know if going through all the hoops is worth it,specially paying for multiple servers. (Maybe by making a crowd source for fund might work,idk)
• And lastly we'll either need to get a proper anti cheat or implement one of our own.I do have an alternate method which works via invites along 3 strikes and you're out.
• We don't know the legal side of things specially if it comes down to using decrypted data ourselves. Which can go bad real fast resulting a huge fine if nothing else. (Basically it's a gamble and a matter of time before corp finds out).

So there's no hope or alternative then ?

• It would be ideal if lite devs fixes things,allow custom rooms for communities (afaik they don't take anymore pubg partners atm) or implement a mechanism to connect to desired servers.
• Or people can use the available source code and start messing around with them. This is illegal and will have to done via certain tools since you can't edit those via unreal engine.Who knows with enough people decrypting code with some experienced devs or game devs ,it might even be possible to make patch things together and make the source code.(Just a speculation atm)
• Or we can be like,screw them and start a community driven and community funded alternative BR from the scratch by getting together a dev team from the community. Given how big the community is i'm pretty sure there are coders,animators,network engineers,etc in the community.

Next part is for members who love the game as much as i do and been thinking why the hell can't we make our own version,etc. If you think it's stupid just don't go below the dotted line cz it's not for you.

I can't help it since I've been researching and planning things in my head ever for a long while now,just in case if the worst comes to the worst.Thing are on basic level and there's a ton of stuff i didn't mention to keep the post short.(plus this part is additional to begin with).If anyone want's to discuss about anything below the dotted line i would really appreciate if you can so that via a msg. :D

What do you mean a community driven and community funded BR ? Care to explain ?
As it suggests a game either made by a dev team of community members or a hired devs funded by the community,basically a crowd funded BR game. Game will essentially be the same for all but the backers who funds might get skins or something to special to show off. Other wise everyone will be treated equally and will be banned even if you're a backer. (ik ik)
so what are the cons?

• Unless the whole team are previous game dev with experience on working with unreal engine and working on full time (which means they'll have to payed by crowd funding),it's gonna be a slow start due to the learning curve.Plus i don't know if experienced game devs would even consider taking the gamble.
• To get the most out of it,the team needs to be able to work at the same physical place.(or from the same country etc.)
• You'll need decent pcs to run unreal engine 4. If nothing else at least a good gpu. Otherwise pcs will be bottle-necking the team.To simply put there's a lot of stuff to render so if it takes a huge while to render something team will be sitting around doing nothing.Plus there's multiple angles to watch.(which also means it'll need funds.)
• Things has be decided via polls or a voting system so everyone should accept and respect that decision even if it's not the one they voted for.
• community should to look after itself from hackers (specially for the community anti cheat to work)

So are there any positive things ?

• Unreal engine is free to use as long as game doesn't earn anything ,even then it's 5%.
• There's a huge community behind unreal engine so good support along with free a large variety of plugins,textures,etc
• Community funded and community driven so devs can focus on fixes (based on testing and user reports),gameplay optimisations and on updates (once the game is at least 80-90% bug free doing 100% bug free would be mostly impossible since users have different systems,etc) to rather than other useless stuff.
• It might be even possible make games which support more lower end games.(Valorant used unreal engine and it supports more lower end stuff).
• New game with a small community means no hacks to begin with and it would take a while to hacks to pop up if there will be any.
• Devs will use much better passwords than intel. (For those who are unaware intel had massive data breach and their zip file passwords were "I accept","Intel123" or "intel123".)

Wait a minute mister,where's the explanation of the community anti cheat thing you talked about ?
Yikes,i almost forgot that one. :P

• Basically everyone get's a unique invite code to invite people and each invitees code will be related to the his or her inviter (kinda like a parent child relationship).Upon user bans inviter would be notified and upon 3 invitee bans (during a certain reasonable time frame) the inviter would be banned (ofc hwids will be recorded to keep hackers from exploiting this) as well.
• User base will be kinda like a tree diagram,bad branches will be removed until good ones are left.So it's up-to users to keep the base clean and you'll know which of your friends are cheaters.
• It sounds like public shaming ? Of course it is.Anyone who can't play fair should stay the hell away .Period.
• Bans will be done via user reports.There will be auto temp bans if a certain accounts gets considerable reports during a short period.Bans will occur upon manual checks.
• Except for the whole invite code thing servers will be checking for known hacks like speed,flying,etc (you know the usual).
• If the community looks after itself along with the invite code it's mostly possible to a game without needing a client side anti cheat at all.We'll cross the client side anti cheat bridge when and if it comes to that.(Plus a best client side anti cheat would be a kernal level one which i'll while to fully support windows without giving any issue and hogging on system resources.It's possible to use a normal one as well,i was just saying)

I'm no game dev,so i might be over thinking stuff

• It might be possible to do this just with community funds for servers.
• The whole unreal engine thing can be a breeze after the learning curve.
• You might be able to develop games in unreal engine 4 on normal,generic pcs.

No Hacking or Cheating

What Is DiplomacyCraft?

DiplomacyCraft is a server that uses plugins I've developed myself in order to promote strategy and geopolitical competition between players, while also maintaining the "core Minecraft" gameplay and feel. Whether you're a super competitive world conquerer or a casual who just wants to build, there's a place for you.
My inspiration to create this server came from me playing on many different kinds of servers for many, many years, and always finding flaws that limit what multiplayer Minecraft could be. My goal is to take the best of what I've seen, then making it even better by making dozens of revolutionary never-done-before ideas a reality.

Key features:

Nations:

• Can compete against other nations for land and resources
• Have land protection that is strong enough to protect against griefers, allowing you to build cities, but not invincible, allowing for more in-depth and complex geopolitical strategy.
• Are fully customizable and utilize streamlined GUIs/menus for ease of use. Nation names, classes, class permissions, and chat prefixes can all be customized within a nation to fit whatever theme or hierarchy is desired.
• No arbitrary "daily upkeep" or territory size restrictions that limit gameplay. Nations can be as big as you want as long as you are able to defend it

Lives:

• Dying has an actual consequence other than losing your XP. Unlike factions, PVP isn't the sole answer to everything because life is a limited resource. You must also use other political strategies to settle a conflict. You gain 5 lives each day you join, and running out of lives prevents you from joining until the next day begins.

Balanced Economy:

• The economy is diamond-based (aka one of the only items that can't be farmed infinitely and cause hyperinflation).
• Unlike most servers, there is no "selling to the server" at arbitrary prices decided by the server owner. All prices are determined by supply/demand between the other players on the server. As a result, money is actually valuable on this server, and not just a useless number to show who has grinded more / played longer.

Other:

• No donation ranks / pay2win
• No loot crates / vote-crate keys / gambling
• No kits, no warps, no keep inventory, and no set home (If you need somebody to hold your hand, this isn't the server for you)
• Anarchy (As long as you aren't cheating you can play however you wish.)

Mob Farms & Redstone
Overworld Pigmen Farms: No more than 30 max size portals. Iron Phoenixes and Iron Titans are not allowed. Farms cannot have constant light, water, or piston updates. Rotating lights (lighthouses) are not allowed. Constant clocks in general are not allowed. AFK Fish farms are not allowed.
AFKing
AFKing is allowed, so long as you are not causing lag. If you are unsure, please ask an admin before building an AFK farm.
Advertising
Do not advertise the IP or name of another server on our services. Do not attempt to poach players or staff. No soliciting.
PvP Guidelines
PvP is able to be turned on and off via a toggle command. /pvp No tp killing. No spam killing. If you have PvP turned on, you are not eligible for replacement of your lost items. If you PvP someone, you must return them to their items.

➖Grief Prevention➖ We utilize a plugin that allows you to claim your land and only give access to people that you trust! This prevents griefing and raiding, which gives you peace of mind and gives staff more free time to plan features and events!
➖Ranks➖ Our ranking system is determined by a tier of 26 in-game ranks. As you rank higher, you gain access to additional features and some custom named items! Some additional features include /workbench, /nick, /enderchest, and kits. We also have 5 donator ranks that offer a broad range of added perks without being pay-to-win.
➖Crates➖ For every vote that you cast, you receive one VivacityMc Key. These may be used at spawn to open the Vivacitycrate. There are numerous rewards available in the crate. It is a gamble though! Sometimes you may win amazing prizes, other times...not so much. But that's the luck of the game! We also have a Donation Crate that has higher chances of getting OP items and heads with no "gag" items at all.

We try to promote a friendly environment free from toxic energies. Players are encouraged to voice any suggestions or concerns they may have for the community.
